I'll post a picture later.

And also SpongeBob's "Secret Project" was really funny and I think a good popular culture reference.

You guys think that in January or February, SpongeBob Comics would have comics for Sponge Out of Water? Because Nickelodeon Magazine did a SpongeBob Movie Magazine and had it's own Movie comics in it. Or perhaps Nick is going to make another movie magazine?

Any of those would be cool. I hope they do something for Sponge Out Of Water, but that would get Nick involved with the comics. That won't end good.

That would be cool. I loved the comic which explained where Goofy Goober's came from. I don't know if they'd do that for this movie though, since SpongeBob Comics seems to be much more of a separate entity than Nick Magazine was. I'm not even sure if the comics are connected to Nickelodeon in any way. I definitely don't think they'd include anything in the numbered comics but a special movie comic would be great.

Seems like SpongeBob Comics #29 did a homage to Weird Science #12. :P

Issue #35 was amazing.

Derek Drymon's story is one of the greatest SpongeBob stories in years, in any medium. It's funny, cute, visually appealing and heart-warming because now that Ernest Borgnine is dead we don't know if we'll ever get another Mermaid Man appearance on the show, so to get such a wonderful story in the comic book is like an epic tribute. Even though we might not hear him speak again, Mermaid Man is still very much alive. I had been wishing that Drymon's story was a long special episode instead, but actually I'm glad it's a comic. If it was animated it just wouldn't be the same without Ernest Borgnine.

The same sentiment applies to other Mermaid Man stories in the comics. I love that there's still a way for SpongeBob to get his superhero fix.

SpongeBob has fallen under the spell of a comfy, snug sweater his gramma gave him -- and now he's drinking tea, reading poetry, and -- gasp, choke! -- scrapbooking!? Can Patrick and Gary defeat the cozy menace? Find out in "The Sweater!" Also in this issue: "The Goofy Goober" live show goes horribly wrong; Patrick and SpongeBob have silly fun with their powers of regeneration; and a shipload of tough pirates debate SpongeBob trivia. All this plus SpongeFunnies by James Kochalka!

32 pages, $2.99.

A sweater with love in every stitch. I wonder if Squidward will enjoy SB's new personality. (reminds me of Not Normal)

If Showdown At The Shady Shoals was an episode, would it be a special or a TV movie? I think just a special, but the script could be extended. I feel like part 3 was a bit rushed.

TV movie like Atlantis/ToS in my opinion. I think the story has enough substance to fill that time and a regular 20 minute special wouldn't do it justice.

Actually, you're right, I bet that would work better. What about The Treasure Of Captain Goldfish and The Curse Of The King Krabbe?
I also feel like "Farewell, Squidward!" could become a TV movie if the script was largely extended.

TFAW says 37 and 38 both come out in October only a week apart. Is this a mistake, a one time thing, or are they going to be released twice a month now? I mean, the first eight were released once every two months, then it changed to monthly so I dunno.

Comics Continuum has #38 listed under "Bongo Comics for November", but like TFAW this order form says that it comes out on October 15.

Only one week after #37 seems way too soon though, even if they were going to start releasing more frequently. So I'm not sure what's up with that.
