#3 - Someones in the Kitchen with Sandy
Season: 7
Writers: Zeus Cervas, Casey Alexander, Dani Michaeli
SBmania Rating: 3.5
This episode, man, THIS episode. This is the point where I knew our beloved characters were gone and had turned into complete monsters.
The episode begins, again, with Plankton trying to steal the Krabby Patty formula. Eventually I will have to compile a list of episodes where this action is the main plot device because it is honestly getting old. He hides in a sesame seed (even though his is roughly the size of a Krabby Patty in most episodes...) which happens to be delivered to Sandy. He then hides inside of her suit.
Sandy returns to her home and takes off her suit and her... fur? Of course, that literally makes no sense but isn't funny in a typical "Nautical Nonsense" Spongebob way but instead in a stupid, contrived way to make this nonsensical plot come into play. It really is lame.
Plankton decides that he will steal Sandys pelt in order to get the formula, and goes to the Krusty Krab. It is more horrifying than all of The Splinter.
Seriously, it gave me nightmares.
By the way, Spongebob is INCREDIBLY naive in this episode. It's not as bad as Gullible Pants but Spongebob just believing that Sandy can breathe underwater is one of the most contrived things I have ever seen this show do. It really makes no sense and ties together this horrid, horrid plot. BTW, Plankton wants the formula. It's kind of boring.
Sandy gets out of her shower and realizes that her pelt is missing. She is obviously pissed about this and leaves her house, going off to find it. And then... we get the worse scene of the entire show. And i've watched A Pal for Gary!
Four times!
"A nudist ferret!"
"A hairless goat!"
"A naked chipmunk!"
So, Blu3danny already pointed out all the flaws with this awful,
AWFUL, AWFUL scene, but it really is deserving of my hatred. Here is what really makes this awful:
First of all, Sandy is the ONLY squirrel in all of Bikini Bottom! You would think that these HORRIBLE people would know who she is by now and maybe try to help her rather than making fun of her on the streets!? By the way, thats where this episodes hits home with me. Sandy is being made fun of on the streets. I am gay, and have dealt with that before, making this scene ALL THE MORE PAINFUL.
Then, there is the most obvious flaw in this plot. The single most contrived thing about this episode. SANDY. IS. NOT. NAKED.
If Sandy actually WAS naked, this would not be a television show for children. But Sandy has CLOTHES ON! She wears clothes like this IN HER OWN HOUSE! Half the female population walks around like that ALL THE TIME! And no one says ANYTHING! This plot is easily one of the MOST ridiculous thing I have EVER seen on Spongebob. EVERYTHING about it is wrong and it actually caused me pain to watch this episode. That is how much I despise this episodes guts. And it DEFINITELY put up a fight to be my number one choice.
So, after ALL of that, Sandy gets her pelt back from Plankton, and traps him in a pickle jar. And guess what happens? Really, guess.
She. Gets. ARRESTED.
I REFUSE to even ACKNOWLEDGE the existence of this episode sometimes, because THAT is one of the worst endings of all time. Let's break that list out again, actually...
5. Planktons Regular (#17)
4. Someones in the Kitchen with Sandy (#3)
3. Gone (Honorable Mention)
2. ??????????????????????????
1. ??????????????????????????
This ending really just adds insult to injury of this terrible, evil, malicious, HORRIBLE EPISODE! This is one of the WORST things I have ever seen. Just one of the WORST episodes. I can not BELIEVE this even got green lit! What were our writers THINKING? Oh wait, they weren't. Curse you, Zeus Cervas!
Worst Part of the Episode: "Nudist" Sandy
Overall Rating: Offensive
Speaking of Honorable Mentions, the next post is the finale, so lets look at some of them.
#25 - The Clash of Triton
A hyped up special that gave us nothing and lied the whole way through.
#24 - Whobob Whatpants?
ANOTHER hyped up special that gave us boring, stupid, and gross scenes and a lame villain.
#23 - Good Neighbors
It isn't actually THAT atrocious, but this marks the first truly awful episode and began the downward spiral that Spongebob is currently suffering from, which almost gave it a spot on the list.
#22 - Eek, an Urchin!
Just recently discovered this and I am so upset that I did. Boring and a horrible offensive joke that didn't work in the slightest for this episode.
#21 - Slide Whistle Stooges
Annoying, offensive, pointless, stupid. Why was this episode made? Oh, and they're REALLY clever pairing this with The Splinter. Torment our eyes and our ears.
Finale coming tomorrow!
