SpongeBob Comics Discussion

WHAT'S WITH ALL THIS TALK OF WIKIS, ORIGINAL FANS AND MODS OMG ARE THEY FINALLY GOING MAKE A REFERENCE TO US. :wetpaint:
IMAGINE IF COWBOB RANCHPANTS AND SQUIDLY MADE APPEARANCES

I would kill for an appearance of Grubby Grouper in a comic. Something small like carrots, but not spiders they're icky.

Edit: wow CowBob wasn't even a character, I meant SpongeBuck :P

I finally got issue #38 today and it's amaaaaazing. The Goofy Goober stuff is like reading something that could have come out around 2004 to accompany the movie. It's so nostalgic to see SpongeBob and Patrick wearing their little peanut hats again after all these years. And it's a great issue in general so I highly recommend it. Buy it. SUPPORT THE ARTS.

PS: There's a comic with Squilliam.

I got it yesterday. In the pirates comic, there are references to Issues 12, 6, 2, 19, and even more that I don't remember right now.

Squidward and SpongeBob tour the Seven Seas as a smash hit comedy duo, but Squidward can't bear sharing the spotlight. How low will he go to get SpongeBob out of the act? Find out in a novel-length adventure we could only call "Star of the Show!" Plus: Patrick tries stand-up in "SpongeFunnies" by James Kochalka, Maris Wicks shares facts about whale songs, and Patrick and SpongeBob star in a chilling tale of underwater snow shoveling!

32 pages, $2.99.
I'm so going to love this issue.

Maybe Chris isn't showing panels because since it's the Holidays he wants to keep it a surprise. :krabssmirk:

Sneak peeks incoming:

David Lewman wrote and Gregg Schigiel drew "Com-Ick," for SpongeBob Comics #39. In it, SpongeBob and Patrick become the subject of a "comic strip"....Here's one of the aforementioned "strips." (Color by Monica Kubina, letters by Comicraft's Jimmy Betancourt)

The legendary Kaz Prapuolenis wrote the story--The extraordinary Gary Leib drawed and colored it...it's "Grudge With Your Grub," a comic with some high profile parentage! (Not a New York Press reunion issue, contrary to what you may have heard.) It's the tale of a Krusty Krab customer who hates SpongeBob. But why??? Buy the issue to find out---here's a free taste:

Maris Wicks brings you facts about Pufferfish! It's in SpongeBob Comics #39, on sale now! (Lettering by Jimmy Betancourt of Comicraft!)

Thomas Scott Roberts brings the Dell comics 1940s Walt Kelly vibe to the back cover of SpongeBob Comics #39...and the world will never be the same!

Colleen AF Venable wrote a great 4 pager for issue #39 of SpongeBob Comics. It involves popsicle sticks with riddles. It's a really witty story, with lots of great dialog. But all I'm gonna show you are the panels with a lot of "lick" sound effects! Art by Gregg Schigiel, color by HiFi (Brian Miller) and letters by Rob Leigh.

Details for next year's Free Comic Book Day issue. Once again, SpongeBob Freestyle Funnies is one of the twelve Gold Books (meaning that every store participating in FCBD must order it) so it shouldn't be too hard for you to pick up a copy.

This year’s SpongeBob Comics FCBD offering features a 22-page story by Boxtrolls director and Grickle cartoonist, Graham Annable! In “Tangy!” Plankton’s new special sauce made from jellyfish jelly has strange effects on SpongeBob and the rest of Bikini Bottom’s residents. The only one unaffected, the only one who can save them all, is a very reluctant Squidward! Plus, more undersea sequential stories by James Kochalka, Maris Wicks, Gregg Schigiel. and other awesome aquatic artists! 32pgs.
