Popeye's Top 30 Worst SpongeBob Episodes Ever (with some honorable mentions)

I hope the episode will be Hide and Then What Happens. That one is so boring.
Nope but I might rewatch that one to see if it's Top 10 material or worthy of being an honorable mention and look at all the episodes that have the lowest ratings on SBmania to help me remember which ones I want to do next. I'm leaning towards the latter right now.

Now that I think about, it does have a lot of potential to make it on this list ESPECIALLY seeing who wrote it. Stay tuned.

I'm Sure It Isn't But I'll Mind Squidward In Clarinetland. It Was Eaisaly Stupidest Episode In The Series.Yes I Must Like It But I Don't.I Just Hate It I'm Sorry.

It won't. Trust me.

You guys convinced me and wow, this episode is worse than I remembered it and it's no wonder this episode made it onto Illiniguy34's Top 10 Worst SpongeBob episodes video he did last year. The next episode is going to be similar in how boring it is but there are even more things that just make it a painful chore to sit through. It's in Season 6.

Just in the first minute or so of this episode, I'm already finding myself wanting to fall asleep. It takes well over a minute just to establish what the plot of the episode is and it also features a really braindead version of Patrick. He's really annoying in this episode and I'm really amazed at how overlooked this episode is. It's a prime example of an episode where they shove Patrick's stupidity right in your face similar to what they did with Mr. Krabs in "Penny Foolish" and "The Cent of Money." How the heck does Patrick not even know what hide and seek is in the first place? I mean I know he's supposed to be a stupid character but that doesn't mean you have to go all out like this.

SpongeBob decides to help Patrick out with sock puppets and it's also really stupid because there aren't any jokes added whatsoever to at least make this funny. Patrick's so stupid in this episode that right after SpongeBob mentioned the socks, Patrick easily forgets about them. SpongeBob then decides to find somewhere to hide and the scene is just drawn out so long that it sucks whatever humor could have been used to make it a bit more bearable. Patrick without even making the effort to find SpongeBob at all instantly says that he won the game and he also does that in a really annoying, babyish way and then he thinks to himself and somehow forgets why SpongeBob's counting at all. It's like Patrick has Alzheimer's disease or something. It's not funny at all or enjoyable to watch in the slightest.

He decides to go back to his rock and SpongeBob tries to find him. He obliviously says that Patrick hiding underneath his rock would be too obvious. Ugh. I think if I were SpongeBob that would be the first place I would look considering how dumb Patrick can be sometimes. Just why?

Anyway, SpongeBob proceeds to try finding Patrick in other places and there's still nothing funny or interesting about it at all. Again, this part is drawn out to fill the whole length of the episode. I really think it would have been much better to just make this idea into a 7 minute episode or less so that it would have been easier to not make this so ::dolphin noise:: boring and I think a lot of these kinds of episodes centered around a premise like this would work much better that way. After that, SpongeBob decides to annoyingly run after Squidward in a creepy way (oh no, it reminds me of a certain episode that WILL make the Top 10 and that I will tear into with a burning passion). So far, this has been the most facepalm worthy moment of the entire episode for me. Just no. No. No. No. NO!!!!!!!

Even though Squidward doesn't really get hurt in this scene (he still can't open the door to his house), I still find it really really creepy that SpongeBob would run towards Squidward like that.

Anyway, SpongeBob checks the Krusty Krab sign to see if Patrick's there as if Patrick even knows how to climb that kind of stuff. Really stupid and pointless scene IMO and then he goes to Mrs. Puff's to check one of the boats there and again, really unfunny and boring to sit through. There's literally nothing funny or interesting about this episode at all so far. This part is even worse than the other scenes in this episode because Spongebob's just saying "are you sure" over and over and over again and it's annoying too and it goes on for WAY TOO LONG. It completely kills what little comedy could have come out of that scene. Mrs. Puff gets so irritated that she throws the boat and it ends up being on fire. Lame, lame, lame, lame, and more lame and not to mention this whole scene has been one of the most uncreative, unimaginative SpongeBob scenes ever.

SpongeBob goes to Sandy's treedome and tries to find Patrick there and Sandy gives him a submarine thing so he can find him. He breaks through Sandy's treedome and water leaks through the hole. I wonder if they're gonna come back to that scene or not or if that's gonna turn into a plothole. Probably already has anyway.

We get more unfunny filler of SpongeBob looking all over the place and I think "Treats" would do something like this in a much more interesting, creative way. SpongeBob makes it to the end of the world......which in reality is just a gift shop. What a hilarious twist that is! Not. He goes in and the bartender directs him to someone that looks just like Patrick but in reality isn't. He looks like him but he has beard, thicker eyebrows and a mustache.

This is literally the only part of the episode that was even close to being memorable and not even this part is that funny or creative either. I will say that Patrick Not Star comes across as being more likable than Patrick himself in this episode. How weird.

The end of the episode is just SpongeBob returning to Patrick's rock to find him and not surprisingly he's still there and Patrick learning absolutely nothing from the entire episode. He still doesn't know what hide and seek is. What a complete waste of time this episode was.

Also forget whatever review of it I initially wrote. My rating for this episode would be a 3/10 now.

I thought Patrick Non Star was a funny character and I laughed at least two times in that episode but the rest was so boring and stupid. It's definetly on my bottom 20.

I Kinda Like HATWH? Sure Idea Wasn't So Great But Some Parts Are Funny IMO.Mrs Puff's Cameo Was Hillarious.Whatever I Wouldn't Put It Higher Then A Day Without Tears,All That Glitters,Pet Or Pests,Summer Job,Rodeo Daze And Most Of The Other Chocieses...

Since I'm in a really good mood today, I'm gonna ahead and get #10 out of the way right now too. We're really starting to get into the most infamous stuff.

Here are the honorable mentions that I'm probably going to talk about in some way when I'm done with the countdown and explain why I didn't put them on the list or why they had more going for them compared to some of the stuff I've already talked about.

You Don't Know Sponge, Squid's Visit (going to rewatch to see if it's Top 10 material or if it's just as boring as how I remembered it, it's not as boring as the episode I just talked about though), Plankton's Regular, Nautical Novice, The Splinter, Slide Whistle Stooges, Big Sister Sam, Funny Pants, and Good Ol' Whatshisname at the moment. I will update this list accordingly and add or get rid of any episodes. This isn't set in stone but it's sort of an idea of what I want to talk about at the end.

Now we're back into more familiar territory when it comes to bad SpongeBob episodes that people commonly talk about and boy, something really really went wrong here. It feels like so much was missing from it but in any case, I'm going to criticize the final product and not surprisingly, Aaron Springer wrote this one too. :(

The episode starts out with SpongeBob sweeping up at The Krusty Krab and saying hello to Mr. Krabs two times. They have a conversation about the new beverage cups that Mr. Krabs got which results in a really boring, lackluster scene. After about over a minute of nothing happening, Mr. Krabs brings up the viking sized cup and gets out a cardboard viking helmet. Not many of the jokes they use here work at all. They all really flat and SpongeBob boringly asks Mr. Krabs what vikings are.

SpongeBob asks Squidward what the vikings are and there's actually a little bit of promise that this story might pick up and get good. I actually really like the designs of the viking characters in the story that Squidward tells and I wouldn't be surprised if Aaron had designed those himself seeing as how he also created the Korgoth of Barbaria pilot for Adult Swim, which I highly suggest that you check out if you're interested in seeing other things he's done before and if you're mature enough to watch something like that. He's incredibly talented and that's why I've been so hard on a lot of his episodes that I've included on my countdown. He's way too talented to be making crap like this IMHO. There's still not really much funny about this part but still. That's the one thing I'm gonna give credit for this episode on and the music fits nicely with the story too.

The Sockengarten joke is probably the least funny part I've watched so far. Really doesn't make any sense and it feels really phoned in like maybe the people working on the show didn't wanna keep doing it anymore. Unfortunately, even though the drawings of the vikings look good, SpongeBob's design in the episode is just atrocious to look at just like in "Pet or Pests." Take a look.

My point here is that taking out a lot of the funny, lively, appealing drawings really takes a lot out of the show and what made it so successful in the first place because if the artists were allowed to draw more like the stuff I posted above and have interesting visual gags even when not much is happening, then I don't think filler would be such a major issue in a lot of the later episodes. It's really sad to me that they had to change the animation because of budget constraints according to Paul Tibbitt himself and that he loved the older animation best too.

Okay, let's get back on topic there. Just wanted to vent a little bit.

Squidward suggests that SpongeBob write a letter to the vikings themselves instead of annoying him about it. There's still absolutely nothing interesting to really talk about and the episode just keeps going on and on and on. In a weak twist, the garbage man turns out to be a viking himself and takes days to deliver SpongeBob's letter to the other vikings pictured here.

http://www.sbmania.net/pictures.php?img=fB/GpvVkI8Ykf90JlVipbSXks1qY5EMelQX5Pojc9Jc=

Gotta admit that Robert Ryan Cory did a good job with the character designs here. It's proof that not all of the stuff he did for the show has been grotesque but really, that's the only positive I can actually find about the episode. It just gets worse from here.

The other vikings take that guy away and one of the female vikings notices the letter. Unlike The Majesty in this episode, I don't find this scene "incredibly interesting." Just really really really weak. The vikings go the Krusty Krab to wreck everything and SpongeBob continues to not really say anything funny. In fact, I think it would have been better to cut down his dialog for this episode. He doesn't have to be this curious about the vikings.

They kidnap SpongeBob and Squidward and the vikings make another really bad joke about how they're all called Olaf. Ugh. Just why. And this scene is drawn out for way too long. More boring filler to sit through. Moving on. I really can't believe this of all things won an Emmy and that "The Sinking Feeling" didn't win instead. I remember that episode being far more interesting than this.

The vikings barely do anything and they are just really starting to put me to sleep. All they've done is toss a shield around and it really takes away from how epic they're supposed to look. I mean really. One of them says that he likes to sing and the other vikings get mad and put him on a catapult. Spongebob and Squidward are assigned roles on the ship and I'm too bored to even care about which jobs they got anyway. I just want this episode over now. Two more minutes of this to talk about.

Squidward gets pissed off that he wasn't assigned the best job and he gets put on the catapult too. SpongeBob steps in to try to rescue Squidward and the vikings want to have a duel with him. There's suddenly out of nowhere a rock and the ship crashes into it. Way to shoehorn the climax of the episode. Not good. One of the many reasons why I think this episode really really must have gotten watered down in the process or there was supposed to be a lot more to it than this. 11 minutes is just not enough to really tell this story properly and to make it epic enough IMHO and that's where this episode really goes wrong. It's exactly the opposite of "Hide and Then See What Happens" where they take something that would be much better as a 5 minute episode and try to stretch it out over 11 minutes.

The episode ends with SpongeBob plugging up the hole and saying "that's what I call a viking size adventure!" How ironic and also no mention of Leif Erikkson Day either. This episode not only felt rushed but absolutely nothing was funny about it. I can see why it's often called one of the worst episodes of the show and it's very well deserving of that title.

I hate DV for It's boringness but I would put the episode lower on my list and there are much worse episodes than DV.

Just to recap, here are all the episodes that have made the cut on my list so far because I added "Cephalopod Lodge" and "Tentacle Vision" onto the list as well for reasons I stated earlier. For the purpose of this list, I'm just gonna put them all in the same 30 spot so I don't have to rename the title of my thread.

The list is going well so far. Can't wait for bottom 9 list.
Thanks! All of that will be coming up as soon as possible. All the episodes that are coming up are ones I deeply hate with a passion and that I'm probably am going to not have many positive things to say about like some of the other episodes I've talked about. Also I've noticed that my list kinda differs from ones that big YouTube cartoon reviewers have made but it's how I honestly feel and I've tried my best to fully explain where I'm coming from too.

Can't wait for the bottom 9!!!

Here's the beginning of covering what I consider to be the 9 worst episodes of SpongeBob ever made. Brace yourselves everyone. It's gonna be a really really bumpy ride.

SBMania Rating: 2.5

I really should have rated this one lower than I did when I first saw it to fit accordingly with my list but there is just nothing good or salvageable about this special in any possible way. In other words, it's complete junk that you should never ever watch or waste your time with. For a while, I thought this was the worst SpongeBob special that's ever been made but there's another one coming up really soon that I think is way worse than this one and every bit as boring too. At least with stuff like "SpongeBob SquarePants vs the Big One" or "Truth or Square", I can find things here and there that I like about them in some way.

The episode starts out with King Neptune waking up and his wife Amphitrite (voiced by Victoria Beckham) talking to him about his rebellious son Triton and it cuts to SpongeBob flipping Krabby Patties and it's just annoying, unfunny filler. Queen Amphitrite calls the Krusty Krab and tells them that she wants to have King Neptune's birthday party there and then she breaks a hole through the roof.

SpongeBob makes a really weak reference to He-Man. I have a feeling this is the only part about this entire special that's even remotely close to being funny at all and even that falls flat on its face because of the way it was timed and everything. Moving on. Krabs, Squidward and SpongeBob prepare the Krusty Krab for the party and Mr. Krabs gets this weird expression on his face. Oh yes, because this special totally needed Kardboard/Super Greedy Mr. Krabs to ruin it even more. Come on!

(foreshadowing Krabs's behavior in "The Cent of Money." Sigh as if I already didn't hate that episode enough)

More bad jokes persist as Mr. Krabs rolls out the red carpet. Golden opportunity lost to do something funny there but nope. They take the most boring route possible and that random fish starts to gush over how the King and Queen are coming to town. The "jokes" here are even more stupid and unfunny than the last ones. This special is already starting to get worse and worse every minute.

Finally after 4 long minutes of nothing interesting or funny happening, the plot can actually begin......or not. There's another really bad, drawn out joke where the King and Queen tell each other that they are glad that they are alright. How incredibly lame. SpongeBob's also just as annoying in this scene too trying to find Triton and there's even more bad humor. Come on, I just want to hear the ::dolphin noise:: story of what happened to Triton. There is just so much filler in this scene that it makes the special extremely hard to sit through.

Neptune grabs the 16 mm projector and at last, I can finally know what happened to Triton. 6 minutes just to get to the point. Wow. Might I add that I'm curious as to why it took a very long time for the show to bring back King Neptune. I think he would have been really really useful in "Atlantis Squarepantis." Just a thought.

Anyway, it's a flashback to when Triton was still a kid and he wants to learn how to play underwater baseball and he's disappointed by what Neptune does. Triton really wants to study chemistry and that just isn't something that Neptune wants him to do. There's actually a little bit of potential that this special might turn itself around and just focus on fleshing out this backstory and making it great like they did in "Friend or Foe." I also have to admit that there is one funny part in this montage but that's not enough to save this episode from being total rubbish.

In short, Neptune locks Triton up and shrinks him. Boring. Boring. Boring. Boring. Boring. BORING!!!!!!! And I just want to fall asleep right now and thankfully the others who were watching that projection wanted to too. That's always a bad sign that an episode is crap is when even the characters themselves are admitting in some way that it sucks.

Blah blah blah blah, Mr. Krabs, blah blah blah blah, I don't care and there's this one fish that says that "this is a ripoff, I paid to watch high class royal dining action, not listen to a boring sob story." I coudn't agree more with that fish, even though instead of dining, this whole special should have been filled with action, adventure and lots of funny jokes. There's another fish that says that things are starting to pick up. Bull::dolphin noise::.

Boring scene with Squidward and SpongeBob. It's to the point where I don't even feel like describing all this stuff because it speaks for itself. All you need to know is that SpongeBob decides to try to reunite Triton with his Dad.

Squidward tries to entertain the increasingly angry customers and again, the fish makes a comment I completely agree with. "Things are getting lame again." I think that's a huge understatement for this entire special but I'll go with that. Another dumb Greedy Mr. Krabs moment and the episode goes back to SpongeBob slowly seeing where Triton is. Do I even need to tell you the rest of the story because I think we all get the point as to why this special is just terrible.

Long boring scene of Triton and SpongeBob doing nothing but talking. Grotesque, ugly drawing of SpongeBob and his bad breath.

More of the same ::dolphin noise:: thing and Patrick's going to be used as a plot device. I am this ready to just stop watching this episode. More boring crap happens and after 15 minutes of nothing happening, Triton finally gets out of the cage. SpongeBob and Patrick go on a ride with Triton and Triton kicks them out of his boat. Squidward decides to do more unfunny things with the clarinet and Triton arrives at the Krusty Krab. We finally get some action happening even though it's not really good either. The exposition just kills it and it's really unepic seeing as how it didn't take too long for Triton to cause all that destruction.

SpongeBob and Patrick hide under the grill and see what Triton's up to and try to stop him and predictably as ever get them out of the cage. In another long scene that I had to skip parts of, the King is actually proud of his son and the destruction he caused and the Bikini Bottomites do one of the smartest things they've ever done in any episode of Spongebob. Unlike in certain other episodes (there's one in particular coming up thats gonna be very high on the list), they form a mob against SpongeBob and Patrick and they actually receive a consequence for what they did! What a miracle. This and that one joke are the only redeeming things about this entire special. Other than that, it was a complete waste of time and just very difficult to sit through.

The next episode on this list will be another special.
