New character posters

i am not a big fan of the CGI stuff being pushed into the advertising. but it could be way worse.
i like the posters though :p

I really like the Mr. Krabs poster. The Plankton one just looks weird to me, for some reason. I guess I'm not used to his superhero design yet.

At least she doesn't look like this in the movie:

She's staring into my soul...

Also, on another note, the way Sandy looks in that poster reminds me of these from Cats & Dogs!

Especially this one, could very well be Sandy.

I'm disappointed that they're focusing completely on the CGI superhero part for advertising. The first image, the posters, the merchandise packaging, a Toyota minivan, even the name of the movie, all focused on this one part of the movie. From a marketing standpoint I guess it's understandable (CG and superheroes are both popular) but I still wish they had done something more subtle and clever. Like instead of using the superheroes for marketing they should have kept that part a complete surprise.

Oh well. As long as the movie itself is good, and by going for this cheesy "WOW CGI SUPERHEROES 3D" angle Paramount gets more people to see it, I don't really mind.
Yeah, I think Nick are trying to cash-in to the popularity of CGI animation/things nowadays. That's also why the Japanese trailer puts more emphasis on the 2D scene compared to the-rest-of-the-world trailer is because CGI is less popular there.

I wonder if the variations are for different Countries?

The images I posted seem to be for European countries

I actually kinda prefer the version with Patrick leaning on the Leaning Tower of Pisa

I think the SpongeBob poster was scanned from a printer, which could be why the word "Movie" looks a little weird.

Squidward is still at Mount Rushmore in the worldwide posters so, it isn't just European countries. I guess for the worldwide posters, they decided to go with a worldwide theme, but for the American ones, they figured we were all xenophobic and wanted them to just be in America so, they did it that way. :P The "around the world" theme is cooler than the "across America" theme, in my opinion, though.

SpongeBob washing the Eiffel Tower is also better, because something is actually happening, it isn't just a stock picture of his superhero model lazily pasted in.

I just realized there's no Sandy poster. I have a hunch that she doesn't get a superhero persona as such and just stays "Sandy" as opposed to "The Squirrelator" or something.

The Hollywood poster is also the only one with that stereotypical "smirk with raised eyebrow" expression. Dreamworks Face, I believe they call it. :P

I'm still perplexed by this whole landmark theme. I think it's simply supposed to represent the SpongeBob characters coming to the human world in general but it's not very clear. It just looks strange to me.

SpongeBob washing the Eiffel Tower is cute, but the other SB one and Patrick one I could care less for.

The lone comment on the Yahoo article, though.
