SpongeBob's outline has his Season 1 stock day color, I guess they messed up in the pallete tab in Toonz Premium

aight so im new to this thread but uh

imma start things off with a moviebob study

for some reason i seem to be fascinated with moviebob, particularly its use in early season 4. you can obviously tell the crew is experimenting here, hence why the style tends to shift alot in the 2004 produced episodes. shell of a man in particular has what i like to call 'style schizophrenia', as spongebob goes back and forth between his pre-movie and movie design seemingly at random. have you seen this snail seems to be a bit more consistent though, as the change in style happens roughly midway through.

MarkerBob looks better then Normal Animation, and has less animation errors

Speaking of which, the animated sequences during the patchy segments in Christmas Who have normal animation:

It's even cubebob just like the actual episode. Strange, given the fact that the season 2 specials maintain the same art style during animated sequences in the patchy segments, despite the patchy segments usually having different production codes than the actual episodes.

Here's a chart with all the pre-movie specials and their production codes; Bold is patchy

Christmas Who. 5571-155, 5571-153
Party Pooper Pants. 5572-204, 5572-205
Ugh. 5572-208, 5572-220
The Sponge Who Could Fly. 5572-217, 5572-219

Notice how Christmas Who is the only pre-movie special that not only has normal animation during the patchy segments but it's also the only one with patchy segments that were produced before the actual episode.

Off topic, but I found this cel from dexter's lab. Looks like the background color and the glowing were added in post. His hair color is different in the actual episode vs. the cel. Same with his shadow too.

I didn't reply here in a while...

Thought I'd come back to this thread

Imitation Krabs and Welcome to the Chum Bucket have a weird saturated coloring, and coincidentially in both episodes Plankton is the main antagonist

SpongeBob’s shade of yellow looks normal to me in both pictures.

That screenshot from ‘Imitation Krabs’ has very bold outlines and coarse backgrounds. Typical characteristics of early digital animation.

spongebob and patrick's season 2 designs are used as rigs for this game

Plankton's outlineless red pupil from the post-movie seasons is visible in The Algae's Always Greener

I like Greenblattbob just bc that's also the Chowder art style

Yep, by the way I think that these scenes have not the outline on Plankton's Pupil because the animators were to experimenting, but they don't like that Plankton have no outline, so they continued with the outline

His shade of yellow is normal, but the rest colors are darker and a bit saturated

Making characters without outlines just seems weird to me
