SpongeBob's old cheeks are used a lot in There Will Be Grease.

Also, this promo for next week's new episodes has Procrastitosis.

That was the first time since the switch to HD that we’ve seen palebob. Every episode since Extreme Spots, SpongeBob has been the same shade of yellow.

I'm guessing it's a mastering error for the promo. The same thing happened with the promo for Something Narwhal This Way Comes.

I think it may be a mastering error for the promo as well. I remember in 2013 a lot of promos for seasons 9A, SpongeBob was a golden shade of yellow. I think SpongeBob will be a regular shade of yellow when the episodes actually air. Gone are the days of season 2 where SpongeBob would alternate between different shades of yellow (Green in Sailor Mouth, albino in Procrastination, or golden in the Secret Box and Band Geeks)

How come SpongeBob was the only show that had inconsistencies with the color pallet when it switched to digital? But other shows stayed the same each episode when they switched? (The Simpsons, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Dexter, King of the Hill, Hey Arnold, Rugrats)

Here’s a thread about digital animation in Season 1.

The first example I can find of it is this POV shot in Boating School. AC10F9B5-5362-4B94-B052-6A2F79002EE2.jpeg
I assume it was necessary in this case to exaggerate SpongeBob’s fears.

The bouncing pineapple house in Jellyfish Jam is of course CGI:

As is this shot at the end of SpongeBob and the jellyfish:

Any scene involving green-screen effects might have been composited digitally.

But the most obvious example is this shot from SB-129:

This was entirely colored digitally, and sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the episode.

Mastering error

It's a mastering error. During the actual episode SpongeBob is a normal shade of yellow. Same thing happened in the promos for the previous episodes too. In the promo for Evil Spatula from 2013, SpongeBob was gold like he was in Band Geeks, The Secret Box, and Frankendoodle, but in the actual episode he was a normal shade of yellow:

Season 2 of Dexter's Lab looks like season 1 from Beard to Be Feared to Ocean Commotion. The Bus Boy to Got Your Goat have the transitional look, and then Dee Dee Be Deep to Last But Not Least have the late season 2 style that looks closer to Ego Trip.

In the Season 2 short Goofy's Grandma, Goofy has weirdly choppy animation when first talking to Mickey. This strangely slow, low-frame animation doesn't fit in with this show's usually smooth and fast-paced animation.
This style is also used during the opening song sequence in The Perfect Dream

And in this scene from Nature's Wonderland when Mickey says "The map could take us somewhere romantic".
