114a. Dear Vikings

Great to see that I'm the only one who likes it. And to be quite honest, I don't mind the end. *Ducks*

Oh-hoh, you don't want to be saying that around me. :)

I dont know why people are so mean.
Its only the kissing part and the idiotic ending!
Oh wait - Thats terrible.

AAAAAH!

MUST NEVER WATCH EPISODE AGAIN!

Hate this episode. Really boring, oddly put together, and not funny. Aaron Springer should stick to barbarians. The ending was a big slap in the face, and it is not like the episode had much conflict anyway. There really wasn't. Spongebob and Squidward get shanghaied by vikings. That's about it. Nothing much happens after they get shanghaied, they just do. Which really disappoints me. Overall, one of the worst episodes of the show.

1|10 Overall

I dont get the hate other than the ending. I loved Squidward in the beginning.

Lack of conflict. Any good episode of the show has a decent amount of conflict to carry the episode through. This really didn't until the iceberg at the end. Spongebob being completely oblivious to the fact that the cash register was stolen and tables were being destroyed didn't help, either.

I watched this episode for the first time yesterday. As a fan of season 1-3 forgive me if I am biased. I am now trying to watch season 4-6 with a fresh view of being optimistic and hopefully enjoying the episodes, especially since I have hardly seen any episodes from them. I am getting the bad ones out of the way as well.

So, anyway, I went into this episode expecting to hate it. But... it came out decent. It was actually humorous for the first part and SpongeBob was not irritating or over-the-top. SpongeBob kissing Squidward on the head was not as disgusting as everyone on here has made it out to be over the years. But yes, it was a bit weird and unneccessary. At least Squidward had a face of shock/surprise otherwise it would have been more freaky than funny.

After that... not much happened. SpongeBob and Squidward go on a boat with vikings and talk. That's it. Nothing funny or humorous happens. The plot doesn't advance much. This is especially annoying when we come to...

The ending. What a underwhelming ending. Seriously. It's like it gets cut off before we have any real conclusion. What kind of conclusion is that?! What about them going back to the Krusty Krab and talking to Mr Krabs and having a proper conclusion... eh.

So overall, I am going to give this a 5/10. I would probably have given it a 6/10 if it wasn't for the ending, and 7 or 8/10 if there more jokes/more comedy, but there weren't and so whilst this episode had a lot of great potential, it was let down by the execution. They wasted a lot of time in the plot with the whole boat scene, which slows down the pace and doesn't leave nearly enough time for a proper conclusion. Opportunity wasted.

5/10

For me, the beginning of Dear Vikings was one of the best of Season 6.
I can't agree with you on that just yet as I haven't seen the rest of the season, but yes it was actually pretty good and made me smile a few times even.

Not a good episode but nowhere near my least favourite. It has some funny parts like Squidward's totally fabricated explanation of the Vikings and the "Olaf, Olaf, Olaf, Gunther" scene.
The main problem is the abrupt ending.

Why, out of all the episodes they could have chosen, was this one nominated for an Emmy? The world may never know.

I can tell you a good version of someone taking captive of SpongeBob and friends on their ship. Shangied.
