The Krusty Krab

The Krusty Krab. Arguably the most popular place in Bikini Bottom, where hundreds of customers visit daily to sink their teeth into the holiest of food items: the Krabby Patty. Throughout the series, there have been a number of changes to the Krusty Krab, ranging from the name to the uniforms to the menu (the "Galley Grub").
For eleventy seven years1, the Krusty Krab has served thousands of loyal customers who flock from miles around to experience the good, cheap food and verbal abuse. But how did this now buzzing restaurant get where it is today? Let's find out.
Before it was the Krusty Krab, the building which is now home to Bikini Bottom's most beloved fast food eatery once housed the town's senior citizens in the form of a retirement home.2 'The Rusty Krab', as it was known back then, went bankrupt, which was unfortunate for the residents but fortunate for aspiring young businessman, Eugene Harold Krabs, who acquired it and performed some minor renovations. The shuffleboard court was removed, the name altered slightly, and the Krusty Krab began its new life as a restaurant.
When exactly Mr. Krabs went into the fast food business is debatable. Although a penchant for food service was present since childhood3, prior to the establishment of of the Krusty Krab he pursued several other careers, including piracy. The name of his pirate ship was, perhaps coincidentally, 'The Krusty Krab'4. Whether he found the conveniently named 'Rusty Krab' by sheer luck or purposely set out to find a building with a similar name to his old ship is unknown.
In earlier years, the Krusty Krab had class5. Although the menu was largely the same, the decor and the way in which the food was presented was more akin to a high-end restaurant than a burger joint. This set-up was no doubt expensive to maintain, and so was eventually abandoned in favor of the more modest theme we see today.

Modifications
There are many episodes in which the Krusty Krab has changed names or done some interior and exterior alterations.

Bossy Boots - Mr. Krabs hires his daughter, Pearl, to work at the Krusty Krab on her summer vacation because she has some great ideas to bring some new customers. The first thing she changes is the uniforms, ditching the crew hats for pink outfits with purple flowers all over and antennas with the letter "K" on them attached to the top. SpongeBob called it the greatest uniform ever. The next idea is to come up with a new name for the eating establishment. Pearl thinks that no-one would want to eat at a place they called 'krusty', so, with the help of SpongeBob, comes up with new names such as Kissy Krab, Khaotic Krab, Kurly Krab, before eventually settling on "The Kuddly Krab."
The exterior of the Kuddly Krab building is changed from all brown wood to alternating pink and brown, with a rainbow in the left window and five heart flags on the front. The most distinguishable change is the giant sign in front of the property. Pearl changs the shell to a giant pink heart with green lettering for "The Kuddly Krab." Attached to top of the sign is a purple crab waving its claws from side to side as if to welcome all of the new customers.
The interior of the Kuddly Krab is drastically different, too. There is no wood flooring, except for the kitchen and Mr. Krabs's office. Instead, make way for the blue carpet, purple wood paneling at the exit, giant bean bag chairs, and many other changes that make it look like a hip teenage hangout. It seems to have wallpaper of clouds and a sun covering the glass windows.
Pearl also decides to change the Kuddly Krab menu to keep up with the hip group of teenagers. No Krabby Patties, no Coral Bits, no Kelp Dogs, or anything of that nature. To keep her new customers happy, Pearl shortens the menu to just two items: salad and tea. When SpongeBob can't handle making these items, he goes to see Mr. Krabs and lets him know that Pearl is ruining the Krusty Krab. Although Pearl is his daughter, Mr. Krabs does agree but he can't just fire his own flesh and blood, so he has SpongeBob do it for him. Pearl is secretly pleased to be relieved of her duties. After the firing of Pearl, Mr. Krabs doesn't know what to do with all the new stuff that his daughter brought into the establishment. SpongeBob takes it all home in exchange of one year of salary and, thus, the Krusty Krab is brought back to its original state.

SB-129 - The Krusty Krab is alive and well 2000 years into the future. However, in place of all the wooden flooring and various other materials, everything is covered in chrome, even the condiment containers and spatulas.
The employees are slightly different than 2000 years earlier. Even though the uniforms are the same, SpongeBob, otherwise known as SpongeTron in the future, is a robot and can hover around everywhere since his legs can double as booster rockets. When SpongeTron, or any of the other 486 letters of the alphabet, pull on their tie, a robotic arm comes out of their hat with a brick and drops it wherever, as needed. Patron, the Patrick Star of the future, is a double-headed pink starfish that still loves to jellyfish.

Squilliam Returns - In this episode, Squidward runs into his High School arch-rival, Squilliam Fancyson. When he gets jealous, like he always does, of Squilliam making fun of his life, Squidward blurts out that he owns a five-star restaurant. When he gets back to the Krusty Krab, he asks Mr. Krabs if he can transform the Krusty Krab into a fancy five-star restaurant to impress Squilliam. He only has a few hours to get everything ready so he enlists the help of SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs. A few minutes before opening, he tells SpongeBob to clear his mind. When SpongeBob explodes and g's crazy, Squidward panics and tries to run outside and stop Squilliam, who is already in front of the doors. As soon as they walk in, they are in awe of the way it looks.
The interior glass windows have been hidden behind white wallpaper with gray shells on it. There is also blue carpet, green trim around the borders and poles, a water-spitting fountain that resembles Squidward, the ceiling has been painted with clouds and fish with wings and harps, a chandelier, and even a classical music group in the corner. The tables have been decorated with white tablecloths, fancy shell chairs, and a pineapple candle holders. The head table in the restaurant, where Squilliam sits, has a comfortable, wooden, red-satin chair.
The menu for the five-star restaurant has a recommendation, thanks to SpongeBob: the Krabby Newburg. It consists of the finest cuts of aged, imported kelp, stuffed with herbs from the garden, wrapped in parchment with award-winning shallot tapenade, slow-roasted for six hours in a wood-fired, clay-filled oven (or "kiva") and served with a garnish of wilted coral on a mahogany plank. The other menu items were going to be a can of peas, which Mr. Krabs explodes, and the appetizer.
The uniform for Squidward is a white tuxedo and for SpongeBob is a black tuxedo and fake mustache.
When Squilliam asks about the waiter and his name, SpongeBob cracks under the pressure and dumps water on Squilliam. Mr. Krabs and Patrick escape from being tied up in the back, but only to warn everyone that the appetizer is on the loose. When Squilliam realizes that the whole thing is a charade, he rubs it Squidward's face, as the wallpaper peels off the glass and Squidward g's back to his normal Krusty Krab uniform.

Selling Out - Mr. Krabs feels so alive that he is getting all the money in the cash register. After singing the song, Feeling of Greed, an entrepreneur named Howard Blandy walks into the Krusty Krab. Howard buys a bunch of small businesses and turns them into another franchise - "Krabby O'Monday's." After Mr. Krabs is sold on the amount of money and gold that Howard offers him, the Krusty Krab is changed inside and out.
The exterior changes a bit with more outward windows and glass sticking out. The doors are no longer glass but instead are velvet and have oval-shaped windows on them. The shell that used to say "Krusty Krab" now says "Krabby O's," a shortened version of "Krabby O'Monday's". The flags that were hanging over the Krusty Krab doors are replaced with the name "Krabby O'Monday's".
The interior changes more-so than the exterior. The flat-level wooden floor is replaced with a black & white checkered floor with three steps that lead to a second level of green flooring. The round tables are taken up and square, purple striped tables are put on the bottom level, while the upper level has round tables. There are a couple of televisions above the customers' heads, just like in the episode "Born Again Krabs." However, these televisions are in different spots. There are a bunch of sports banners and decorations around the restaurant, as well as an air hockey table for the customers that are done with their meal or just there to have some fun.
The uniforms are also changed. Instead of the normal attire that Squidward wears everyday at the Krusty Krab, he wears a derby hat, overalls, and a red bowtie for Krabby O's. SpongeBob wears overalls and a derby hat as well. Mr. Krabs has his normal attire on except he is wearing an apron. The management style is different, too. Carl, the new manager, wears a white collared shirt, a purple tie, brown pants, and sneakers. The name badges are a new touch. In the kitchen, where SpongeBob used to cook Krabby Patties on a grill, patties are made by a synthetic patty machine and then passed out by SpongeBob. No love is involved in the making of those patties and, thus, they are not true Krabby Patties.
The employees are diverse. There's a new 'Human Resources' position, which is a big, tough fish, which is there to make sure employees are following rules. Squidward almost has to go see HR. Carl is the new manager, not owner and manager like Mr. Krabs was. Squidward plays a new role as the waiter and birthday singer. He must always have a smile on his face when interacting with the customers.

Enemy-In-Law - Plankton builds a robot that kidnaps Mr. Krabs' mother, Besty, so that he can talk her into going on a date with him. He says he's admired her from afar, but secretly wants to get the Krabby Patty secret formula through her.
In this episode, the interior looks a lot like it did in "Squilliam Returns": glass windows have been plastered with white wallpaper with gray shells on it, there is blue carpet, green trim around the borders and poles, a chandelier, and the ceiling has been painted with clouds and fish with wings and harps. The tables have been decorated with a white tablecloth and have fancy shell chairs. SpongeBob even has a tiny table for Plankton that he sets on top of the big table.
The uniforms are just about the same as in "Squilliam Returns." The only difference is SpongeBob's cummerbund is red instead of purple. He still has the same black tuxedo and mustache.

Krusty Towers - After Mr. Krabs visits a hotel where no request is turned down and the prices are outrageous, he gets the idea to turn the Krusty Krab into a hotel with the same policy and prices. Afterall, this is Mr. Krabs and he loves to be greedy.
The exterior is changed to include multiple floors. At the very top is the Krusty Krab but below that are ten floors, each with a balcony, windows, and surrounded by blue steel. The bottom floor is where the entrance is. It looks to have some revolving doors and a sign over it.
The interior is your typical hotel with the service desk, chandelier, elevators and fancy decorations on the bottom floor. The rooms, however, are a little different. When you walk into a room there is orange wallpaper with orange shells on it, a king-size bed with a table stand and lamps on both sides, a picture of a sailboat hanging on the wall, and a glass door leading to the balcony with curtains over it. The bathroom has a toilet, a bathtub with a green shower curtain around it, and a picture of fruit hanging on the wall. The hotel rooms may seem small at first but you can fit giant-sized pools in them and invite your friends to join you!
The uniforms are different than other episodes. When Mr. Krabs acts like the manager of the hotel, he dresses in a black suit, yellow shirt, and green tie. When he acts like a bellhop, after Squidward becomes a customer, he wears a blue shirt and blue pants. SpongeBob's uniform is just like Mr. Krabs' but he has a blue hat on his head. Squidward's uniform is the same, except he is pantsless.

The Krusty Sponge - Today is the day that the famous food critic, Gene Scallop, visits the Krusty Krab and SpongeBob is frozen in place, scared of what he might do or think of the establishment. SpongeBob makes a Krabby Patty for Gene but all that the food critic d's is take one bite out of the sandwich and leaves. The report comes in and while the customer service & appearance is horrible, the Krabby Patty and the cook, SpongeBob, are fantastic. In fact, Gene Scallop advises Mr. Krabs to 'spongify' the Krusty Krab if he really wanted to make money.
The exterior changes a little bit, with the shell sign that says "The Krusty Krab" changed to a yellow sponge with the words "The Krusty Sponge" on it. The only other exterior change is that Mr. Krabs adds a train ride with each yellow cart bearing SpongeBob's face.
Only Squidward's uniform changes. He now wears a SpongeBob costume. His face sticks out in the middle of the Krusty Krab hat.
The interior is not changed at all.
Mr. Krabs buys a lot of spongy items, which includes: SpongeBob Ice Cubes, Mild Bobby Sauce, Tangy Spongy Sauce, SpongeBob Napkins, SpongeBob drinking straws, coasters, bibs, and eventually Spongey patties. The patties are worse than you think. Wh'ver takes a bite out of these will turn yellow and spongey. Mr. Krabs is arrested and sent to court, but just when the judge is about to give a ruling Mr. Krabs notices that he's using a SpongeBob gavel and exchanges his sentence for a ride on the fun train that Squidward operates.

Mermaidman vs. SpongeBob - Mr. Krabs makes a new commercial starring Man Ray, Mermaidman, and Barnacleboy, for the new Krusty Kids Meal at the Krusty Krab. That's not the only thing that happens, because all the kids get a chance to meet their her's, Mermaidman and Barnacleboy. Plankton is up to one of his schemes again and uses mind-control shampoo on the superher's to tell everyone how awful the Krabby Patties are. But SpongeBob d'sn't give up and figures out a way to stop that by feeding them fiber and Krabby Patties.
The uniforms for the party and for meeting Mermaidman and Barnacleboy are not the regular attire that the Krusty Krew would wear at a normal day of work. Both SpongeBob and Squidward have masks around their eyes and wear belts with the letter "K" as a buckle. SpongeBob's underwear is now red with a white border.
The exterior changes when Mermaidman and Barnacleboy visit the Krusty Krab for a 'meet and greet'. There's a line out the doors full of fans. On top of the Krusty Krab is a giant poster that has a picture of Mermaidman and Barnacleboy's heads and right below that is a banner that reads "Meet Mermaidman and Barnacleboy Today." Enormous balloons of Mermaidman and Barnacleboy float around the property and a sign with a Krabby Patty and the word "WOW!" are right in front of the Krusty Krab shell sign.
The interior has some new things, like a caged ball pit for the kiddies and a stage for Mermaidman and Barnacleboy to make a speech from.

Truth or Square - It's the eleventy-seventh anniversary of the Krusty Krab and Mr. Krabs wants to make sure the formula is safe, so he hires extra security: Patrick Star. To keep everything a secret, Mr. Krabs pushes a red button on the wall and the Krusty Krab suddenly enters lockdown with steel all around the establishment.
SpongeBob is in charge of decorations for this special event. Squidward asks Mr. Krabs if he's sure about leaving the decoration up to SpongeBob because of all the past times SpongeBob was trusted with that job, including a western theme, 70s theme, and space theme.
The decorations for the eleventy-seventh involve lots of mustard, ketchup, and pink ribbon. The bathroom and main dining room are decorated with pink ribbon along the ceiling borders, poles, tables, and windows. Patrick and Squidward get decorated with pink bows as well. A banner of alternating ketchup and mustard letters reads "Eleventy-Seventh Anniversary". The tops of the tables are decorated with a twirly design in ketchup and mustard. Last but not least, several hundred Krabby Patty balloons float up to the ceiling and some miniature balloons are tied to the tables. With only a fifty-cent budget given to him, I would say that SpongeBob did an excellent job at decorations.

The menu in the Krusty Krab is called "Galley Grub". It contains a list of main dishes, sides, and drinks to order from. It also contains a money back guarantee that has only been given back once in the episode "Pickles" to Bubblebass. The Krabby Patty

The Krabby Patty is just one of the many food items sold at The Krusty Krab, yet it is the most popular. The secret to making the Krabby Patty so delicious is with love, according to SpongeBob. With this love, it can make any mammal in Bikini Bottom in a great mood. They are good for your soul. Make sure you don't eat too many because they go right to your thighs and then you blow up. Just ask Squidward. The formula to make the patties is the sole property of the Krusty Krab and is only to be discussed in part or in whole with its creator, Mr Krabs. Duplication of this formula is punishable by law. Restrictions apply, results may vary.

The history of the Krabby Patty has been spoken of in "Friend or Foe.' A young Mr. Krabs and a young Plankton were always getting teased and made fun of by their classmates and so-called 'friends'. When they were hungry and wanted to eat a burger from Stinky's, none of the kids wanted them there. Without those kids paying for his burgers, he would be a penniless loser like Mr. Krabs.

Mr. Krabs and Plankton wanted to get the lispect from everyone and decided to go into the business of burger-making. After making the prototype, the Plab Patty, their first customer was Old Man Jenkins. He took a bite and fainted. Both of them argued about who made Old Man Jenkins faint and split the recipe in half.

They each made their own recipe the way they wanted to make it and brought it out in public for everyone to try. Plankton made his with memory and science while Mr. Krabs accidentally spilled some jars into his batter. Plankton's burger was the first to be eaten but it was a failure. Big Johnny, who took the bite, spit it out. Another kid went over to Mr. Krabs and took a bite out of his burger and instantly loved it. And thus, the Krabby Patty was born.

This picture has been floating around the internet for some time now. These are the typical ingredients you would find in a Krabby Patty. Whether or not that is the real formula has not been confirmed.

In the episode "The Great Patty Caper', Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob argue over how to make a new batch of patty meat. They both agree that you start with flour and barnacle shavings. The next ingredient s a toss-up. SpongeBob says it's turmeric and Mr. Krabs says it's sea salt because of the acronym S.C.A.B.S (Salt Comes After Barnacle Shavings).

There have been many instances in the series that the formula has been discussed, described, or tried to be obtained in different ways:

But before we can get to all of that, we need to go over a few instructions first before you actually know about and how to make the Krabby Patty. What? You thought we were just going to get straight into the nitty-gritty?

According to "Krusty Krab Training Video", you'll need to get an advanced patty-control mechanism and understand the phrase POOP (People Order Our Patties). After you understand POOP, you'll need to do some personal hygiene. Make sure to watch your hands thoroughly, polish your feet, clear your face of any blemishes or boils, and keep your hair neat and tidy. Next is your work station. Make sure it's clear of any droppings and your supplies are well-organized. Interfacing your boss is probably something everyone reading this wouldn't need to worry about. Now, in case of emergencies, make sure you run around the room screaming. You'll be sure to avoid another emergency by doing so. Now that you've learned the basics of your training, it's time for the moment you've been waiting for!

Help Wanted - This is the only episode that has a different look for the Krabby Patty. Even though SpongeBob has all the condiments cut up and put on the buns and burgers, the Krabby Patties that are launched out of the kitchen only have bottom bun w/ ketchup & mustard, patty, lettuce, and top bun. All other ingredients are hidden.

Plankton! - Introducing: Plankton. The arch rival of Mr. Krabs. Plankton owns and operates the Chum Bucket, which is across the street from The Krusty Krab. He tries to steal the formula by controlling SpongeBob from inside SpongeBob's body, specifically the brain.

After taking a Krabby Patty from The Krusty Krab and going inside the Chum Bucket, Plankton directs SpongeBob over to the his analyzer so he can drop the Krabby Patty in and find out its ingredients. Before that happens, SpongeBob describes the Krabby Patty, as a final goodbye, as Juicy, scrumptious, warm, steamy goodness with its 100% all-secret patty, Undersea cheese, Pickle, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Two fluffy seaweed-sea buns. Plankton loses control of himself and actually bounces off the Krabby Patty and into his own analyzer.

Pickles - At first, SpongeBob knows exactly how to make a Krabby Patty. First bun, then patty, followed by ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and bun, in that order. He can even make a Krabby Patty on wheat buns. All that changes when a bully named Bubblebass comes to the Krusty Krab and orders a Double Triple Bossy Deluxe on a raft, 4x4, animal-style, extra shingles with a shimmy and a squeeze, light axle grease, make it cry, burn it, and let it swim. Even though SpongeBob makes it to order, Bubblebass lets him know that he forgot the pickles. This sends SpongeBob into delusion.

Mr. Krabs comes over to SpongeBob's house to check on him and to get his confidence back. Mr. Krabs lays out a blanket with all the ingredients on it and waits a few days before SpongeBob realizes he can't do it. He can't assemble a patty on a bun, with lettuce, cheese, onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and top bun together in that order. Except that he did but it was in a different order than the beginning of the episode (Bun, Patty, Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles, Onions, Lettuce, Cheese, Tomato, Bun).

Patty Hype - Mr. Krabs...SpongeBob has an idea! The Krusty Krab hasn't had a customer in thirty-six days. So, to get the customers back, SpongeBob decides to sell Pretty Patties. These colored Krabby Patties are no tainted meat, they're painted meat. They come in six designer colors. Mr. Krabs and Squidward laugh hysterically at this idea but when SpongeBob sets out to prove them wrong, boy d's he ever. Everybody in Bikini Bottom comes out and buys one.

Mr. Krabs gets jealous of all the money they are getting and decides to trade the key to the Krusty Krab for Pretty Patties. After this deal is done, Mr. Krabs opens up the next day but only to be approached by angry customers. All the Pretty Patties stained the fish in Bikini Bottom. Whatever color they ate, their body had an effect on. One Scottish fish's skin turned plaid after eating a plaid Pretty Patty.

Jellyfish Hunter - Probably the tastiest Krabby Patty in human eyes. Yes, the Krabby Patty filled with Jellyfish Jelly. How good was it, you say? Well, it's so good that Mr. Krabs had SpongeBob capture all the jellyfish in Jellyfish Fields, all 4,000,000 of them, and there was a song that Fred sang about the sandwich.

The Algae's Always Greener - When Plankton takes over the Krusty Krab, after using his Switch-Lives-Just-To-See-What-It's-Like-O-Mogrifier, he switched SpongeBob's and Squidward's jobs. With Squidward in the kitchen he makes an ordinary Krabby...OH MY GOODNESS! This patty has a sock, eyeball, nail, hair, wooden plank, and other nasty ingredients in it. You could say it's another version of the Nasty Patty.

Nasty Patty - A Health Inspector has arrived at the Krusty Krab and wants to try one of everything on the menu. So, Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob gives him a smorgasbord. When he finishes all the food, the Health Inspector needs to try an ordinary Krabby Patty and he'll pass the Krusty Krab with the inspection.

Just then, a news story comes on the TV explaining that there has been a fish posing as a fake Health Inspector just to get free food. They've been smeckledorfed! When Mr. Krabs gets word of this, he decides to turn the Krabby Patty into something fierce: the Nasty Patty. This patty consists of seahorse radish, t'nail clippings, toilet water, and gym socks.

As Seen On TV - The Krusty Krab is making a commercial and explains how they assemble the Krabby Patty: start with a fresh patty, grilled and juicy. Add some crisp undersea veggies and cheese. Topped off with secret sauce and some bun. Voila! A krabby patty.

Born Again Krabs - SpongeBob has accidentally dropped a patty under the grill. It's cold and hard. Instead of throwing it away, Mr. Krabs saves it and tries to give it to a customer. No other patties are to be made until this one has been sold. After a few weeks, no one wants it so Mr. Krabs takes a bite out of it to show that there is no harm. He ends up going to the hospital.

Selling Out - Mr. Krabs and the Krusty Krab has been bought out by Howard Blandy, President of the Blandy Franchising Company. The Krusty Krab is then turned into Krabby O'Monday's, a new hangout for parents and kids. Instead of traditional Krabby Patties that are made with love and from the grill, these burgers are now synthetic and are processed that are made from a machine that creates them out of gray sludge and then spray paints them into a Krabby Patty.

All That Glitters - A customer orders something that hasn't been ordered in ages, a Monster Krabby Patty. Nothing special added to it except for a lot of patty meat on one grill. However, it's too big for just an ordinary spatula to flip. Not even Le Spatula 3000 wants to flip that slop!

The Original Fry Cook - Jim, The Krusty Krab's first fry cook, comes back for a visit. SpongeBob wants to learn from Jim, because Jim's patties are better than his own, and gets some advice on how to make the perfect Krabby Patty: do not step on the patty, don't slice the pickles too thick, and don't put too much mustard on it.

Krabby Road - Plankton forms a band with SpongeBob, Squidward, and Patrick after hearing SpongeBob sing a song about the Krabby Patty ingredients. However, instead of saying the actual ingredients, SpongeBob inserts different sounds.

Take a couple Boo-Ooh-Ooh! And a pinch of Awoogah! A teaspoon of *raspberry* Then you mix some of this and put it over there. Mix in some... Nyah-Nyah-Nyah! Add a splash of wee... And when you're done, you chop up some Oh. Oh-oh, Oh-oh...

Not Normal - After SpongeBob watched a video about becoming normal, that's what he turns into at work. Instead of using a grill, SpongeBob types up the order in a computer and the printing machine spits out a Krabby Patty. But this is no ordinary patty, these are made out of paper and ink. Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that Krabby Patties are made with love and heart and not paper.

Stuck in the Wringer - SpongeBob tries to wring himself out but gets stuck in the wringer. At work, he attempts to work around this little mishap and gets some motivation from his best friend, Patrick. He mentions that nothing can get between him and crisp onions, sweet tomatoes, crisp lettuce, a flame-broiled patty, a warm bun sprinkled with sesame seeds served with a smile that says, "Hey! I care!" There's some of the heart and love that g's into the Krabby Patty!

Someone's in the Kitchen With Sandy - Another attempt to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula by Plankton. Except this time he can't steal it like he normally d's because he's in Sandy's squirrel fur suit. Plankton tries to get the secret of the Krabby Patty out but according to the Krusty Krab Industries Labor Agreement, Section 934.44-929b specifically prohibits the disclosure of the secret formula to friends, even when those friends are quote, "closer 'n two catfish in a skillet." SpongeBob teaches Plankton the ins and outs to making a steamy Krabby Patty from start to finish.

The first step is set the grill to 274 degrees to cook the patty for exactly 283 seconds on each side, although in "Bummer Vacation" SpongeBob says to set it the grill to 298 degrees. It's time to work on the fixings. Wash the seaweed on both sides, thoroughly cleaning the surface. Then lay it down onto a drying rack and engage with the drying phase, but don't over-dry it. Otherwise, the seaweed becomes brittle and cracks. Make sure the top bun is centered exactly. Can't have it off by even 3.6 millimeters.

Greasy Buffoons - A tub full of grease needs to be removed from the Krusty Krab grease trap. After Mr. Krabs siphons all the grease, Plankton slips in it and gets a brilliant idea on how to increase the Chum Bucket revenue. When Mr. krabs sees Chum Patties being sold by Plankton, he tries to outdo him by selling Deluxe Krabby Patties. These are a Krabby Patty with extra flavor, the extra grease that it's covered in.

Now it's Plankton's turn to outdo Mr. Krabs with the 'Ultra Chummy Patties' which have four times the grilled goodness. So, when all the customers go back to the Chum Bucket, Mr. Krabs outd's Plankton by introducing 'Yummy Bunz' with over an hour of flavor in every bun!

Plankton soon introduces not a new patty or a bun, but grease crumbs called 'Crispity Crunchities'. Mr. Krabs then gives everyone a taste of Wow Soup, pure grease on a paper plate. Points for honesty.

The Other Patty - It looks like Plankton has finally gotten a hold of a Krabby Patty he's been so desperately wanting to steal. Mr. Krabs willingly let's him run off with it. That's because there is a new security measure. Krabby Patties now self-destruct ten feet beyond the Krusty Krab.

There is a new restaurant called The Flabby Patty that sells delicious patties. The owner of this new place is actually SpongeBob in disguise. When Mr. Krabs and Plankton co-op-er-a-ted with each other to get the secret recipe about how to make this Flabby Patty, the ingredients are: four pounds of grade-A love, one tablespoon listening, two tablespoons understanding, mix ingredients thoroughly, and fold in warm heart. This isn't a recipe for Flabby Patties, or Krabby Patties, it's a recipe for friendship.

There are many ways that the recipe has been completely made wrong and times that there have been other attempts at something with the Krabby Patty.

Plankton's Army - A pinch of salt, 3 teaspoons of chopped onions, a cup of love, mixed together with four heaping pounds of freshly ground Plankton.

Pickles - After forgetting the pickles on Bubblebass's burger, SpongeBob's brain turns inside-out. He can't remember how to make a Krabby Patty. He attempts numerous times: Bun, ketchup, mustard, pickles; Bun, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles; Bun, mustard, bun; Bun, mustard, bun, hand, ketchup; Bun, sh', mustard, pan, bun; Bun, patty, ketchup; Bun, patty, bun; Bun, bun, patty; Patty, pickle, bun; Tomato, pickle, bun; Bun; Bun; Sh'.

To Love A Patty - SpongeBob makes the perfect patty and instead of giving it away to the customer, he saves it and names her Patty. SpongeBob takes her on a date, treats her like a lady, and everything it takes to keep a woman happy...except for eating her at the end after Mr. Krabs tells SpongeBob that patties are meant to be loved and eaten.

Yours, Mine and Mine - Patrick d'sn't have enough money for a Krabby Kiddie Meal but when SpongeBob decides to share the cost of the Kiddie Meal with Patrick, everything is ok. That is until Patrick d'sn't see a toy inside. What a ripoff! Mr. Krabs comes out of money bath and fixes that problem. He creates a junior patty with straw arms and legs, pickles for eyes, and ketchup smile and dimples.

The Krabby Patty has been raised and lowered in price throughout the series. The cheapest that the Krabby Patty has been given away for is free, like in "For Here or To Go" when Plankton wins a free Krabby Patty. The most expensive price for a Krabby Patty was in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie for $101.00 when King Neptune arrived.

Policies/Training
As a customer, an employee, or just someone who wants to learn the ins and outs of the Krusty Krab, there are a couple things you should know before stepping into the restaurant:

Customers
- No one eats at the Krusty Krab for free, king or no king. Mr. Krabs points this out in 'Rule of Dumb'.
- Money back guarantee. This is seen in very tiny print on the Galley Grub in 'Pickles'.
- No free refills. Before Mr. Krabs buries himself, he mentions this policy in 'Patty Hype'.
- No free napkins. One of the most important rules mentioned in 'Dying for Pie'.
- Standing fee. There is a standing fee, according to Mr. Krabs, in 'Krusty Krab Training Video' if you do not want to buy anything.
- The Krusty Krab Hide-and-go-seeker's Fee. If you're looking to play hide-and-seek on Krusty Krab premises, you must pay Mr. Krabs.
- No refunds. This sign can be seen being cleaned by Mr. Krabs in 'Squidtastic Voyage' right before the Krusty Krab opens. This was probably put in place after what happened in 'Pickles'.
- The Krabby Patty formula is the sole property of the Krusty Krab and is only to be discussed in part or in whole with its creator Mr. Krabs. Duplication of this formula is punishable by law. Restrictions apply, results may vary. Mentioned to Plankton's robot disguise in 'Imitation Krabs'.
- Krusty Krab policy clearly states that once the burger has reached the customer, it is his/her responsibility. This was the old rule in 'Born Again Krabs' until Mr. Krabs changes it after his hospital trip.
- No outside drinks. No exceptions! This new rules was put in place in 'Best Frenemies' when the new Kelpshake came to Bikini Bottom.

Employees
- Never disclose the location of the secret formula. This is from the Krusty Krab Rule Book, rule #2, from 'One Coarse Meal'.
- The Krusty Krab Employee Manual; 2nd revised edition; page 35; section 19; Clause 3a states: All staff must remain on the premises until the days receipts are fully accounted for. SpongeBob tells Squidward about this rule in 'Can You Spare A Dime?'
- The Krusty Krab Employee Manual; 2nd revised edition; page 35; section 19; Clause 3b: The provider reserves the right to be unfair. SpongeBob tells Squidward about this rule in 'Can You Spare A Dime?'
- Everyone's money is good at the Krusty Krab. Even convicts are seen eating a Krabby Patty in 'Bubble Buddy'.
- Think of the customer. Every employee must do this, as seen in 'Bubble Buddy'.
- The customers jokes are always funny. Squidward must show a chuckle for a customer in 'Sponge-Cano!'.
- Never touch the thermostat. Mr. Krabs is very touchy about this in 'Krabs a la Mode'.
