Milkmaid's Top 111!

And, no, that's not a placeholder. That's the actual title card. Okay, whatever. I'll try to hurry these last three while still trying to thoroughly explain my opinions. So, yeah. This episode is basically what the title says: a training video for the Krusty Krab. It shows what to do in different situations and how to do it, such as Plankton invading the Krusty Krab for the umpteenth time. That really is the entire plot. I think what makes it is the simplicity, and it's overall delivery. Several of my favorites are earlier episode featuring nothing else but Spongebob and Patrick goofing off, with Squidward often getting in the mix (i.e. Opposite Day). This episode doesn't really follow that formula, but it's definitely one of the show's all time simplest plots. Spongebob, who I would suppose is "the star" of the video, keeps asking if he can make a Krabby Patty between segments of it, so I suppose that's a...subplot? Oh yeah, that's the famous Krabby Patty recipe tease at the end. That was well timed. So yeah, the experimental nature and simplicity of the plot is very good, but let's talk about the humor. It's freaking EVERYWHERE. I can't really single out any funniest moments, but if I had to, THE ENTIRE EPISODE. I'm serious, not half a minute passes without some sort of working joke. They just throw one joke after another at you, but it JUST REALLY WORKS. There's the graph/giraffe bit, People Order Our Patties (which I actually put as my favorite quote when I first joined here, and it's still there because I never bothered to change it), Squidward's button, and much much more. That's really all I can say....it's really very funny and clever. The characters...my god, there's brilliant. Mr. Krabs' performance was honestly a little overshadowed, but it wasn't awful. I really enjoyed the interactive narrator, but it's maybe just his writing. Squidward was his usual lovable deadpan self and had some really funny moments...such as, as i've said before his "I really wish I weren't here right now" button. Spongebob was also his usual self, and I just loved the way he reacts to everything. Yeah, that's it. Everything's just great and in character, but there's still pretty good. The main point of this episode is the humor, but I think everything else about works perfectly.

My goal is to now finish this list TODAY. I usually post the top two at the same time, but now i'll probably post #2 then write #1 right after. I still have two lists before I get off the circuit for good, but this is likely the magnum opus of my...list career. So, let's get it done, because guilt has been riding me for months and months and months about barely updating it and not finishing this. So, yes. Number 2 is Shanghaied. The episode follows Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward following a giant anchor into the sky, which leads to the ship of the Flying Dutchman. The three go through all sorts of hijinx with the Dutchman, and then...the ending. So, when this episode first aired, Nick had a voting contest to see what ending out of three could be aired. I believe that Spongebob's is shown in repeated airings, but I think any of them would work well. It's a good plot, a little more complex than some other episodes we've looked plot, but that's completely fine too. Is this episode funny? OF COURSE IT IS. There's Squidward's "tunnel of despair", "the sky had a baby", pretty much the entirety of the character interactions, and of course, "the perfume department". One of the funniest moments in the show's history, i'm not even joking, and I don't even know why. It just is. How are the characters? They are absolutely, positively, incredible. No one was out of character at all, and their interactions were absolutely genius, which it what I think up a good part of the successful humor. Spongebob is pretty good, Patrick's pretty good, Squidward's really really good, and the Dutchman is just great. I just can't really put into words how great this episode is. It has a good plot, even kinda different from the rest, this episode is really funny, and the characters help make up that humor, at the same time pull off great performances themselves. Can you guess #1 yet?
