Guess who's back?
Season 2 Episode 17a (37a): Procrastination
Air Date: November 30th 2001
Production Code: 5571-175
I'm going to say that this is my favorite part of the episode:
Anyways I like how SpongeBob begins to go insane over the essay, from just Patrick from plausible finding out about it to random others to ultimately his House blaming him for being on fire because he didn't write the essay when it's revealed that it was all a dream.
Now I find this episode pretty relatable, because I do procrastinate alot especially with school work and you guys could argue that I did so here. But really think about in SpongeBob's shoes, because he could have not realized he was procrastinating in some parts or maybe he did.
But but, I'm only defending SpongeBob here because I can relate to him and especially with how he finally found out what to right as it just kinda hits you last second.
But then the ending... Mrs.Puff decided to cancel the assignment because of teacher's convention and ultimately thought that a fieldtrip to a
stoplight would be better instead.
I don't know if whether or not the fact that Mrs.Puff canceled the assignment because of the convention or the stupid traffic light field trip got to SpongeBob the most, because I would've done the same the same thing as him. (Hold the splitting in half part)
Either way though I do think the episode is good in terms of relatability and because of that (in my opinion) I feel like it gets an 8/10 from me.
On to the next segment...
Season 2 Episode 17b (37b): I'm With Stupid
Air Date: November 30th 2001
Production Code: 5571-179
I guess I start by saying that this episode along with a select few others have in Pre-Movie SpongeBob have been considered to be Scumbob, with this one being the first to show Patrick's more "flanderized" dumb personality that we'll later see in Post-Movie/Pre-Sequel.
However I or most people don't really share that same sentiment about this episode. Yes SpongeBob (kinda similar to Sandy in Squirrel Jokes) is being dehumanized by Patrick so he wouldn't look dumb in front of his "parents".
But I'll at least say this in Patrick's defense, he could have been too stupid to have remembered what the plan original was to the point he forgot.
But that doesn't mean in no way I'm defending Patrick for egging it on while talking to "parents" which by the way...
Or really this even though it's funny, but Patrick really only did that just to spite SpongeBob:
I like how Marty is essentially Biff in the sense that it's the same actor, Thomas F. Wilson, who I think made his debut on the show with this episode. I'll also give credit to Janet/Margie Star's voice actor, Susan Boyajian.
Anyways, despite me sounding negative I don't think this episode is bad. It's good because of it's funny moments but also because of Thomas F. Wilson (who'll also return for an admittedly fitting role) and also some meme material such as that laugh Patrick makes after SpongeBob rammed head-first into his house.
Overall, (in my opinion) 8/10 from me...
POST NOTE:
So here I am, almost 2 years later after the last review. And honestly, it's kinda nice getting back into it because it didn't feel like I had to do it although I kinda had to in a sense.
And I still will, what got me to do these episodes really was because I want to see the show evolving first hand. It doesn't help now because when I started Season 12 and 13 were running together with two new spin-offs - Now as I'm coming back to this both of those seasons have finished up, Season 14 premiered not long after 13 with over half it's episode now announced and almost half premiered, Kamp Koral is starting to wrap up with all it's episodes announced, and TPSS now on its 3rd Season.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that now there's more content because of my absence from reviewing episodes...
However, hopefully, I'll be more active in reviewing and so on so forth.
