I hate to admit it -- but I'm not really sick of it. Actually, I've loved the show since before I can remember, really.
But there was a time where -- I don't know what. Around the time the show started to really change, maybe around when Season 4 started to end (because as I recall, I still really liked Season 4), and with my mom aways saying "This stupid cartoon/dumb show" or whatever (lol), I suddenly just flipped sides. Which was strange because I used to be an 8-year-old fangirl of the show. I suddenly stopped watching it on TV, started avoiding anything SpongeBob, probably threw my plushies in my closet somewhere idk, (Well it was after we had moved so they were probably still packed somewhere anyway.) And whenever I was watching Nickelodeon for iCarly or FoP or AtLA or whatever, and a promo came on for SpongeBob; I would either change the channel for a while or leave the room if my brothers were watching. I still don't know how to explain it or what it was, to this day. Weird early-teen mixed with childish reactions? Subconscious wish to grow up? A phase? Switching to anime? I dunno. I don't think I was actually "sick of it". I think I had just snapped or something, I get the feeling...
Oh yeah, it was also around the time I discovered anime/Sailor Moon, which was 5th-6th grade.
I've outgrown that weird thing now, and I'm back to being a SpongeBob fan, luckilly. :) (I still really like anime, though.) But with me now being 18, and I had the weird phase-thing starting when I was maybe 12-13; I've kind of become shy when "showing my SB fan-ness" in public or even in front of family... not that it seems they care, anyway. I guess at first I was afraid my family would be like "Oh, so you like SpongeBob again?" or just... weird commentary like that idk. I'm not the best, socially. U__U
So I think, because of that "anti-phase" or whatever I call it, I won't get sick of SB anytime soon; because of that gap, I've missed so much SB stuff over those years, I have a whole bunch of stuff ahead of me I can do. I've already started colecting merch again (I already have 7 new plushies) and had a SB-themed 18th birthday! It's like I've gone back to being my 9-year-old self again, plus an otaku (which fits since I was never an outdoor person anyway LOL), and it feels good. It's great; and I'm just in time for the new movie, too. (Did I ever tell you I saw the first movie on opening day, for my 9th birthday? )
But maybe the thing that keeps me from getting sick of things, is that I'm in multiple fandoms. Like, LOTS of fandoms.
