Rodger Bumpass on how Movie #2 differs from Movie #1:

"I get to be in it. If you remember, in the last one me and Krabs got frozen out while the other two guys go off on their little adventure. So we went to the creator Stephen Hillenburg and said "Can we be in this movie this time?", so we're all in it. And it's just funnier, the script is nicer, there's more variety because of the different mediums we can do, 3D and the live action stuff and CG stuff too."

Another Q&A (there are 6 parts in total to this one and it's interesting and funny, so I recommend listening to the whole thing if you have time):

On the movie:

"I do have some news for you. For those of you who don't know the latest, we are just about finished with The SpongeBob Movie 2. And they never tell me anything, they added the subtitle recently, they brought out the YouTube trailer, "Sponge Out of Water", which is very appropriate for this film. For those of you who saw the first one you know that we had live action stuff, and this one is taking that a little further. The whole thing's in 3D and we have traditional 2D animation, CG animation, live action, and our live action villain is Antonio Banderas. He's the pirate. And I was a little jealous because when I first started my career I was doing physical comedy, taking falls and all kinds of other slapstick stuff, and he is very good. You'll like him an awful lot.

And, let's see, I can't tell you a whole bunch about it because of the non-disclosure agreements we had to sign, but does anyone remember the band Pink Floyd? There is what we gamers call an "Easter Egg" in this. There is a magical porpoise that enables us to go onto the land and when the porpoise is done with their work they fly off into the sky and disappear in a flash, like going into hyperspace, and right there at that flash? Dark Side of the Moon. That's all I'm going to say. Can't say any more. I'd have to kill you."

No interview on Aaron Springer? :(

I know that Rodger is funny, but after watching this video, he's very hysterical, even without being Squidward!

He doesn't work on the movie. Why he should get an interview for the movie? If you are talking about his interviews about SB, this topic is about the inyerviews of the cast and the crew of the upcoming movie.
Oh alright. But it would still be cool if they did an interview on him.

From Christopher Backus, who plays Burger Beard Sr:

Tell us about your role in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water! Who do you play?

I'm really excited about the new live action SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water! It's the first film I've been able to do that my kids will get to watch. And to be a part of the phenomenon that is SpongeBob is incredible, it's such a popular cartoon that transcends just being for kids and all the people behind it are just incredibly gifted and generous.

I also loved my role in this film, I actually play a Spanish Buccaneer who is the father of Antonio Banderas's character in flashbacks and who I suppose sets Antonio's character, Burger Beard, on a path to his destiny, which you'll have to go see in Feb 2015 to see.

He was such a fun role to take on, he's a swashbuckling, powerful and legendary pirate captain - an old school buccaneer that is everything you could want in a pirate.

Bob Camp interview from June:

BC: I just finished doing character layouts on the new SpongeBob movie, I think it's coming out next year. It's gonna be awesome, of course. That was fun. It's funny, too, to finally work on SpongeBob, because through all these years I never did it but it was always sort of, you know, something I could have worked on and a lot of my friends worked on it and finally they asked me to, so it was kind of cool.

Julia: Sort of the same irreverent, kind of off-the-wall spirit that Ren & Stimpy had.

BC: Yeah, SpongeBob is like Ren & Stimpy's little brother.

And another, from April (start at 13:45):

After all these years I'm finally working on SpongeBob. My old friend Vincent Waller's the creative director of the show and they're doing another feature, which comes out next year, and I'm doing character layouts on that. I'll be doing that for another few weeks. And it's fun.

And for anyone who's curious, yes, SpongeBob is the hardest character to draw in the world. He's all effed up. He's just kind of a wonky box with wiggly lines. There's no construction to it. At every angle it's different and you see all these drawings and think, "Wow, this is a wacky expression. Well I'll do a wacky expression!" and they go "No, that's not the right wacky expression. We don't that wacky expression. Here's the wacky expression we do." These same people have been making this show for what, 18, 17, 16 years? Something like that. So there's this vocabulary of expressions that SpongeBob has that these guys all have in their head that I don't have. So I'm just, you know, "What would I like to do?" and then they send it back to you 8 or 10 times. And it's not because it's bad or it isn't funny, it's just SpongeBob would never make that expression. The fish people are super fun to draw - the background characters - they're super fun to draw, super easy to draw, I never had any re-dos on them, they're really happy with the character layouts I do on them.

Woah, I didn't know Bob Camp was working on this movie. I'm surprised to see he thinks SpongeBob is hard to draw considering he's such a good artist, but I'm assuming it's just lack of familiarity with his character since he said that he got them rejected on the basis of it being an expression SpongeBob would never make. I hope we get some of his original character layouts that got rejected, I'm sure they'd be really awesome to look at even though they got rejected.

When he posted the second trailer on his Facebook page he asked Vincent Waller if he could share some stuff, so we'll probably see some of his drawings next year.

Q&A with storyboard artist Matt Flynn (SpongeBob part at 14:20).

Which movie or scene from a movie was your favorite to draw?

There's actually a scene in the SpongeBob movie that unfortunately I'm not allowed to show you because the movie hasn't come out yet. But there's a very fun part of the movie at the end. The movie is about … Mr. Krabs' formula is stolen and Krabs thinks that it's Plankton's fault, but SpongeBob knows that it's not Plankton's fault. So the two of them have to work together in order to find out where the formula went. And there's a scene at the end of the movie – and I can't give away any surprises – but it's a scene where Plankton comes to help SpongeBob get the formula back and it's a really big, fun scene with a lot of action and it should be really funny when everyone sees it.

It seems like everyone's been having a hard time explaining what the movie's about.

Man if it's this hard for them to keep the secrets about the movie, I wonder how hard it'll be to dodge spoilers once it comes out. (Implying I won't see it on opening day/night, which I hope doesn't happen. :bullshrimp: )
