213a. The Getaway

Well that an exciting episode. Majority of it was basically one long car chase. The guest stars Steve Buscemi and Joe Pantoliano very great job voicing their characters. Most of the funny moments were actually from Mrs. Puff, believe it or not. I laughed that she was flirting with Steve Buscemi's character throughout the episode. A couple of familiar one-shot characters made a return in this episode. And the artists/writers are continuing their everending tradition of callbacks, which seem to keep growing every passing episode. We saw the graveyard from One Man Trash again, on an interesting note. Only flaw is SpongeBob can be a little naive at times. All in all, pretty great episode, with some nice voice acting and characters.

2 other Easter Eggs I found that haven't been mentioned so far:

The Snail Po Truck from Have You Seen This Snail? appeared on the road at some point.

The "Con Man" from Chocolate with Nuts appeared as the guy in the store that the escaped convict robbed.
Also, SWMJ's tombstone shows up at the very beginning in the cemetery. By the way, what were the new music that was heard in this episode? The music tracks kind of reminded me of the Loud House.

this was a good episode,it had spongebob and mrs, puff crashing as usual and the end up in a grave yard and then in front of a jail and mrs.puff gets out of the boatmobile and goes to a photo booth and then some random fish convict jumps into the hoat and spongebob thinking it's a new boat instructor drives around with the guy and they drive off and mrs.puff tries to run after them and some guy that was supposed to help the convic escape is boarded by mrs, puff and she tells him to follow spongebob and then tons of mayham ensues and then all of a sudden i see spongebob and the convict pull up to a jewelry shop and i see a familiar character and it turns out to be the guy that spongebob tries to sell chocolate to in,chocolate with nuts
(you know the guy that scammed spongebob and patrick? that guy) it turns out he owns a jewelry shop.and mrs.puff started having feelings for the guy that was supposed to help the convict escape,so they all ended up right back at the jail and the convict got out of the boatmobile because spongebob drove him insane and told the cops to lock him up forever and ever and then the guy who hat mrs.puff had got feelings for was put in prison and mrs.puff was like i'll wait for you my love but then she saw spongebob as she was like lock me up to (mrs.puff shouting to the cops) and then some police cars fall from the sky and the police say always wear your seatbelt and drive safe.
i give this episode two thumbs up. 10/10 and five stars.

Probably original tracks. But what makes you think of The Loud House?

I really liked this one. Almost every joke worked (minus that foot joke), animation was amazing and new characters weren't bad, good even.

gud episode. lots of fun. lots of humor. the visual gags were great. it got a little repetitive around the middle though.

I've caught bits and pieces of it, and they sometimes use similar-style music.

This episode kept me laughing all the way through it. i t had well paced gags and such. although, i'd remove the foot scene.a 9/10
I'm with you on that one. Sea creatures, such as fish, should not have human feet.
I'd enjoy this episode more If they've removed that foot scene.

Some good things and some bad things, honestly.. the opening line about "disturbing the dead" was great, that's kinda the humor I expect from SpongeBob; it's too bad we don't get more of that. Would be cool to see the graveyard used again, maybe for a Halloween episode? *Wink wink*

This episode felt like a lot of filler to me.. not big enough of a plot for 11 minutes, in my opinion, would've worked better as a short, ala The Krusty Plate (which is such a fun episode in my opinion).. always nice seeing Mrs Puff used, as well as new locations. Guest stars did a great job with their performances; some shows (Simpsons comes to mind) bring in celebrities who obviously aren't interested and sound bored, and that is non-existent here.

Episode had TOO MANY gags though, often not having any time to stop and let me laugh (or leave an awkward silence, outside of the usual SpongeBob Hawaiian strings)

SpongeBob was painfully out of character, here, though. Not sure why the writers sometimes write him as moronic, when he's not. He's an optimist and slightly naive, but not moronic. This also goes for Patrick, who, in my opinion, is slow witted, but not a pure idiot (aka Tea at the Treedome, where he gives SB advice; pointless advice, but he still tries).

Not a good one, but not the worst the show has done.

After a second watch, I have to say this episode was pretty good. 7/10

I was actually really excited about this episode. The promo for it seemed to have great potential, and I heard from a lot of people that it was one of the best episodes in the Season. Unfortunately, I got a different vibe from this episode. It seemed kind of boring, and very repetitive. I tried, believe me, I tried my best to actually get a laugh out of this episode, but I didn't find any jokes that actually got me laughing (Aside from the "I never take a bad picture" joke, which I already saw in the promo). Ultimately, I found it to be a disappointing episode, rather than a really awesome episode.

The concept of this episode was brilliant. It is a very different, and unique concept that feels like it can work really well in an episode. But, the episode itself is pretty much the same thing.

SpongeBob injures the criminal.
Mrs. Puff & The Getaway driver compliment each other.
The criminal steals things.
SpongeBob & the Criminal escape the police, and avoid Mrs. Puff and the Getaway driver

A majority of this episode is nothing but one of these 4 things, so if you don't find any of these 4 things to be entertaining, you're kind of stuck with an episode you don't like.

That being said, do I like this episode? Yes, I do like this episode. I think it was an entertaining, fast moving episode, that had likable elements (Particularly the Puff/Driver subplot), along with some entertaining, well animated chase scenes. I just think that it could've been A LOT better than it was. The promo definitely had a lot of great humor in it, which unfortunately is sparse throughout the rest of this episode.

I did not find myself laughing at anything in this episode in particular. Most of the time it was a forced laugh, hoping that this episode would be a great episode. But it wasn't. It was not a great episode. There's no memorable, entertaining jokes or gags in this episode. A lot of the jokes that work are usually chuckle worthy, there's no real funny jokes aside from the gag I mentioned earlier. This is a problem, as a good amount of this episode is stale without funny jokes. The scenes with SpongeBob & The Criminal mostly. The comedy in these scenes usually involve the criminal being injured by something, and while the animation itself is funny, it's not that funny of a gag. It gets kind of annoying, and just bland at many points.

While this episode does terrible trying to make me laugh, there are some enjoyable moments.

I really do like the Puff/Driver subplot. I thought it was an interesting element added to the episode that was unexpected, and delightful to watch. It kind of develops Mrs. Puff's character in a way, rather than just have her be her usual "I HATE SPONGEBOB!" self. It was an entertaining subplot that really helped boost the episode's quality in my opinion, and spiced things up. It's not as brief as the gag with Krabs and Puff in Whirlybrains, so it doesn't feel like it's the same exact thing. It was nice to see some character development, not only in Puff, but also in this one-off character.

Speaking of the one-off characters, they were pretty good characters in this episode. The guest star (Don't know who he is) voicing the criminal did a marvelous job voicing this character, and really brought him to life (Primarily in the repetitive injuries towards the end of the episode. He did manage to spice things up a little). While the other character wasn't as memorable as the criminal, he did manage to be entertaining in his parts.

I still think the suspenseful, driving scenes were very entertaining. They're a big highlight in the episode and makes it all the more entertaining. While this episode may not be entertaining with its jokes, it's still entertaining with its story. The story works very well in this episode, as I mentioned earlier, as it does break away from a regular SpongeBob episode. It's also interesting that this entire episode is at night. We hardly get an episode at night, let alone, a Boating School episode at night. This episode was a nice change from previous episodes this season, and despite its many flaws, it's still a very solid episode.

It's a Good Episode. If I had to watch it again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. This episode, while not funny, was certainly entertaining animation wise. It had a lot of well animated scenes. Also, I love the Con Artist's cameo in this episode.

I give it an 8/10.

Interesting how much Mrs. Puff is in this Season. Considering how little she appeared in Season 9, it's a pretty nice surprise having her being given a big role in a few episodes.

Funny and fast-paced with fluid colors and movement. Felt like a classic Looney Tunes cartoon. Yet limited to minimal settings. 8.5/10

Reaaaaly good episode. I loved the fast pased humor and how they make so many gags off of this simple concept. My favorite part would be the romance between mrs. Puff and the getaway driver. Exspecially the foot gag. It just came out of nowhere and i thought it was very funny. I would say its on par with spongebob meets the stragnler imo

To heck with it, this episode was amazing. The stakes are set extremely high, the jokes hit like a machine gun, the episode has so many visually exciting camera angles and designs, and the decision to hire Joe Patiollano and Steve Buschemi to voice new characters was perfect casting--I'd say that Patiollano does an even better job here as Sticky Fins than the Tattletale Strangler did back in Season 3, his serious, raspy performance as a criminal provides a stark contrast to SpongeBob, as it's once again a plot where his innocence leaves him completely unaffected by the complete chaos that he ends up causing. I just love how much that makes Stickfin's huge karma trip to insanity seem even sillier and more exciting.

When I first heard this episode would have two really famous guest stars, I knew this would be packed with exciting conversation, and this didn't disappoint! From SpongeBob comically flinging off everything Sticky Fins tries to do--thinking "get rid of [the Cop's] tail" meant getting rid of a man-bun, driving through a boat wash when he asks to "launder this stack of bills"--to the subplot between Dorsal Dan and Mrs. Puff flirting as they try to chase down the two--which both showcases a convincing romance and helps to give breathing room to the otherwise rapid story--there was no moment where there wasn't lots of talking. They didn't scrap the visual humor either! The camera angles are excellent, we get to see the group chased into loads of beautiful new locations from a jewelry store to a "Driving Range" (that's a golf pun I've never heard before!), and it's packed with exaggerated facial expressions to emphasize just how much Sticky fins is suffering in comparison to SpongeBob being scotch-free.

This episode was just such a joyride all the way through. The new characters were excellent, the dynamics are perfect, it's packed with joke upon joke, and by the ending I got so excited I wasn't even sure whether to feel sorry for the poor criminal saps who went through SpongeBob's torturing or to be happy because they deserve it! There's just so much going on that I can't talk about it all! Fantastic!

Grade: "A+"

In the beginning of the episode I thought there was going to be like Mrs. Puff You're Fired, where Spongebob gets a new instructor. And... it kinda is, but in a different way. I do like the driving scene.

Anyway, I thought this episode was quite solid. It wasn't super funny, but it was fun enough to keep me entertained and the animation is entertaining to watch.

7.5/10

(Also, I feel like this is the season where Spongebob shape shifts into everyone and everything)

Season: 10

Episode: The Getaway

This episode was very decent. The plot was decent as well, it feld kinda rushed though. There were some funny jokes. 6.5/10
