08b. Squeaky Boots

Honestly I think this is a good episode, yeah the boots are loud but they created a lot of great humor and the ending where Mr. Krabs goes insane is very funny in my opinion.

I don't really understand the hate for this episode. The squeaking wasn't that annoying and the scenes with Krabs going insane were really funny. The episode also had a generally good concept and plotline. "Great" on the S1 scale to me.
 
Underrated episode, it doesn't deserve the hate it gets...it's funny...the squeaking did not bother me at all...Mr.Krabs has a lot of different paranoid -as Amphitrite said- faces but I loved that...One of my favourite episodes..10/10
 
I actually find this episode and the squeaking really funny, and it also had many funny faces

Reference to Edgar Allan Poe' s The Tell-Tale Heart was on-point when Mr. Krabs went insane. What SB did with the squeaky boots on was funny! 9/10
 
I used to kind of like this episode when I was a kid but now I don't. The squeaking gets really annoying and was the main problem of the episode for me. I also didn't like when Mr. Krabs went insane. 4/10
 
Well, welcome to the first scumbob! This episode SUCKED spongebob and Mr. Krabs are really annoying and Mr. Krabs is creepy sadly it's a 5.5/10
 
This is maybe an unpopular opinion, but for me this was one of the best episodes of season 1. Although the squeaking is somewhat annoying, it doesn't bother me too much. Mr. Krabs going mad and the boots under the floorboards were both hilarious. 9/10, not as iconic or complex as some other episodes of the season, but still very funny and nostalgic to me.
 
Meh, the episode was kinda funny, but not a big fan of it. Also, does anyone else notice that on newer TV airings they pair it with Something Smells?
 
I don't think that I have as much love for this episode that many people do. While it's definitely much better cringe comedy than the one shown in The Splinter or A Day Without Tears, the squeaking gets really grating really fast. Also, the episode is pretty low on jokes for me. It's still a pretty good episode imo, because the sounds never get too bad, and it actually has a somewhat unique story that still holds up even now. 7/10.
 
Unfortunately an episode I just can't find myself liking. Obviously the squeaking ruins it for everyone, including me, but even ignoring the squeaking sound, the plot just isn't compelling enough for me. I am not really interested in Mr. Krabs getting annoyed, because I am annoyed too. I am too annoyed to find the gags that funny. The squeaking is so bad, it literally ruins both comedy and story. I see some attempt at freak out sequence, but an episode like Squid's Day Off did that way better, and it made way more sense that time. Him eating the boots is comedic, but kind of weird, and makes me feel more disturbed than I already am. When both aspects of an episode are ruined, it screams bad, and unfortunately, I have to call it as such. It's very close to being just OK, but there are no aspects from this episode that I find myself interested in. The biggest thing I'm hooked on is the squeaking stopping, and even that is handled weirdly. I think this is the first appearance of Pearl, and it's not the best starter episode to be real with you.

Really? I'm not really seeing too many other people who genuinely love this episode other than myself...
 
The first bad Season 1 episode. I didn't like it because the squeaking was annoying, the plot was meh, and this episode wasn't funny. At all.

I completely agree with you, this episode is bad, not like ridiculously bad, but it's still bad nonetheless.

Now, I don’t find this episode necessarily SCARY as others might, but it certainly gets annoying. The constant squeaking, Mr. Krabs going insane, and mostly just one of my least favorite episodes, as even the plot isn’t very strong in my opinion. Spongebob gets a pair of boots that drives Mr. Krabs to insanity. I don’t find that very funny, and in my opinion, this is the worst episode of Season 1 (but not at all one of the worst episodes of the series.)
