Will Squidward and Spongebob get together at the end of the series?

spongebob touches squidward's nose like crazy

can you spare a dime
christmas who
main drain (and speaks in a seductive tone even)

I wouldn't mind there being a gay couple in Spongebob. That would be freaking awesome as long as it didn't contradict previously established characterization. But I don't want it to be Squidward and Spongebob.

Squidward and Spongebob's relationship, even though they aren't blood relatives, is one of the most genuinely fraternal relationships I've ever seen in any show. They act like brothers (at least the way I see it,) and making them a gay couple would A) ruin that really sweet relationship, and B) be a little bit creepy.

In pre-movie and post-movie episodes (Can You Spare A Dime, Yeti Krabs) Spongebob has said that he sees Squidward as a brother.

Now.... if the gay couple were Spongebob and Patrick, Squidward and Krabs, Krabs and Plankton, Fred and Scooter, Gary and Rocky the rock, or Pearl and Sandy, I'd be all for it! Gay it up! Yes homo! Just... leave Squidward and Spongebob's cute brotherly relationship alone. It's fine the way it is.

Other than indoctrinating children, I see no reason to have homosexuals in Spongebob. If you want to watch a cartoon that tells you how to think, I suggest Family Guy or The Simpsons.

No, SpongeBob and Squidward are not gay for each other and is only a conquincidence that they might have feelings for each other. They could only become a gay couple if people from Tumblr started working on the show.

Well SpongeBob once said that he liked Squidward and has kissed him before, NO WAIT A MINUTE! SpongeBob is asexual, why do people think that he is gay? (Not that I am a homophobe, but SpongeBob is not gay.)

SpongeBob wore a man-tu in Toy Store of Doom.

Why do you even think SquidBob is going to happen lol
I just explained why. Because they keep putting hints in the show for no reason.

Yes, during the episode SpongeBob pretends to be Squidwards boyfriend however that was only practice towards his real date. SpongeBob drove Squidward nuts the entire episode and eventually threw a fit at him right when Squilvia shows up. Squilvia notices Squidwards true personality and is pleased by it. They both drive off and happily ever after. (Well, Squilvia never shows up in any other episode so it really makes you wonder what happened after that :P)

So basically the episode shows how a date between the two would go. (Not so well.)
This is a good post and a good explanation but I just didn't see the need for them to focus on Squidward and Spongebob's date in the first place. Like they could've focused on Squilvia and Squidward's date (Spongebob doesn't have to be the main focus on an episode all the time and some episodes have shown that) but no! They set up a Squilvia/Squidward date but the episode is all about Spongebob and Squidward's date.

Same with Squid Plus One. Instead of Squidward bonding with Larry, Spongebob has to win in the very end all the time and be with Squidward and Squidward doesn't complain. In fact, he invites it and that's what's different about new episodes.

He has said he sees Squidward as closer than a brother which is creepy. Also,

as if brothers like act like this?

I have never been obsessed with going to a party with my brother as my date. I have never made my house look exactly like my brother's house so I could make him come over. I have never stared at my brother creepily while breathing heavily.

That's not very fraternal at all. Those are sexual interactions and Squidbob interaction has become 90% sexual in the show. I don't mind if it's one-sided (Spongebob liking Squid) because that's how it was used to be and it was funny then but they might destroy Squidward's character just to have him have a crush on Spongebob!

Acknowledging the existence of gay people is not "telling you how to think" or "indoctrinating children". -_-

There's no reason to put something that many families morally object to in a children's cartoon and make it seem perfectly alright other that to sway the children's view of the matter. Spongebob was never meant to be a propaganda piece, aside from that short about "global warming", which was a straight-up propaganda piece.

If people think that there's something wrong with two people loving each other and don't want their kids exposed to something as harmless as that, they'd better just not let their kids watch TV. The same goes for people who deny scientific fact.

Personally, though, I want PatBob to be canon, not SquidBob. :imagination: :tasteit:

Many people think there's something wrong with such unusual behavior. Why should you be the grand arbiter of all morality?

Welcome to 2015, homosexual behavior is not unusual. How am I being the grand arbiter of morality? You're the one telling people what they're not allowed to put in a kids show; I'm just saying if you don't like it, don't watch it.

I'm saying they shouldn't put it in a kid's show. There's a bit of a huge difference. Stop acting as if the one wholly agreed upon position is that homosexuality is perfectly okay and should be shoved down children's throats. Why wouldn't you prefer that they think for themselves? Why would you force two characters that are obviously just friends into a sexual relationship? That stuff isn't the point of Spongebob anyway. It's not like we regularly see characters who started out completely separate become couples throughout the series. It's a comedy show with almost no continuity. There is not an never will be any canon ships. Get over yourself.
