The Squarest in the Land
I'd say it depends on whatever fits the episode, like a lot of things in the show. I honestly think that in most episodes, people are either partial or indifferent to SpongeBob!I hate how mostly everyone in this show despises Spongebob,
this includes Karen, Mrs Puff, especially SQUIDWARD
I feel like it doesn't have to be justified. This isn't a direct remark towards you, but I've seen a lot of people take these hijinks a lot more seriously than the writers intended for us too. I really enjoy the dynamic of an oblivious goofball and a grumpy guy. That's the main appeal, right? In almost all instances, I find their interactions charming and/or funny. Squidward's trademark trait is his egotistical selfishness; he doesn't like anything or anyone that doesn't relate to himself, his interests, or his needs. This makes him being annoyed/hurt a lot easier to laugh at in most cases, especially combined with the cartoonish nature of SpongeBob's antics and Squidward's personality.Only why Squidward despises SpongeBob the most is because Squidward is stuck with him, ends up being forced into his and Patrick's hijinks, sometimes gets his house destroyed, ends up losing what he loves in some sort of way to him, etc.
Yes can get that some of it is justified especially in the Pre-Movie episodes, but when all Squidward wants to do is to have peace and quiet by himself - I can't really see any justification for the crap Squidward has to go through.
