This is the week that Minecraft dies.

Oh my god, they're killing Minecraft! You b*stards!

But seriously, if they buy Minecraft, the PS3/4 version may cease to exist. But I honestly think mod DLCs sound cool. As long as they make Elemental Creepers a DLC, I'm pretty much fine with it.

Again, the DLCs are just a rumor. They probably will take away the PS3/PS4 version, but I doubt they'll remove it on Mac and Mobile.

I think that Notch is actually the one getting the 2 Billion $. He wants to walk out on the company.
Well, I read an article on this, and it does sound like it could be true, but again, he's said he wants to stay indie, so it's unexpected.

I can understand though, Minecraft is his only successful game, at least now.

He had something against putting Minecraft on the Windows 8 store and criticized them, but at the same time, he's said he's loved working with the on the console ports.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK MY HEAD HURTS

Hope this isn't true. Mainly because I play it on Linux, and i'm sure people play it on something other than Windows. But hopefully they won't cancel the other versions and we keep getting updates.

Being actually serious here, Microsoft has an okay chance at buying Mojang. Don't get me wrong, Mojang does probably want to stay unowned, but the offer from Microsoft is a pretty good one. As you know, Mojang created Minecraft (whoa, really?), but is there really anything else they've got? All of their other titles (while some could technically considered successes) never even reached remotely close to the popularity that MC did. If Micro buys MJ, then there's a fairly high chance at the other versions of MC being pulled, which could cost MJ some money, but they have Microsoft to make their other games that they release a ton more profitable, which will probably make them more money in the long run (plus the money Micro offered for the company).

I'll be fine with this as long as there's no advertising, DLC, or paid updates. I take back what I said earlier: Microsoft is smart enough to not mess with Mojang's good work. Besides, we all know that Mojang would have lasted about 3 months if they had never made Minecraft.

Mod DLC is the worst thing I've ever heard about video games since EA bought Westwood. Do you know the reason why lots of peoples hates DLc, because THEY CAN'T AFFORD THEM. Okay, I can't afford DLCs and I sure there's a lot of other unfortunates. But really? ::dolphin noise::ing DLCs?? I hate you Miles, I hate you.

did you credit me for finding this? :P

but yeah, it's a shame.
I found this before you did, or maybe I didn't see your post. Honestly, I'm kind of not too devastated or excited. We don't know if this is good or bad yet, we just need to wait and see.

Saw this on TV today around 11AM. Honestly, I never got into Minecraft, but that's just me. :P Some people have to like it for it to be as popular as it is.

I guess it's official now.. not surprised to see something like this happen. Really awesome to see a indie developer make something into such a big success. The updates might not be like they used to.. but I don't think anyone could have really expected it to go on forever. Who knows though.. everything might just continue as usual.

I'm honestly very surprised. Notch had always said he wanted to stay indie. He also criticized Microsft quite a lot on Twitter. Seeing this deal go through, I don't really know what to think of him.

Here's a really good article from mojang about the whole.

Apparently, Notch never wanted Minecraft to get so popular and he didn't want the huge responsibility. So it wasn't about the money, thankfully.
or that :P
