Mad Scientist/ Evil Genius
I have the same issues with kids and I know I'd find Squilliam's behaviour very annoying.
I feel wrong for finding this so hot.Squidina said:2024-05-29-CMU-SB-Squilliam_the_Heartbreaker-SK.png![]()
I drew that. Yes, I'm shameless. I should be smacked with a rolled up newspaper (it still would not teach me to behave myself). ;)
And that's his neckerchief in his mouth, just sayin'.
Why do you keep saying you died? It kind of makes me worried about you.Squidina said:So, remembering that Squidward's Spanish name is Calamardo (which is calamar + Eduardo, hee!), I decided to look up both him and Squilliam's full names in Spanish and French. It's great.
Squidward, Spanish: Calamardo Tentaculos (I like!)
Squilliam, Spanish: Calamarino Elegante (LOL! I can agree with that. Calamarino, what name does the "ino" come from? I'm drawing a blank.)
Squidward, French: Carlo Tentacule (..Carlo?? Really? But just wait for Squilliam's name!)
Squilliam, French: Guillaume Calamarchic (while I agree that he is one très chic calamari, I'm not so sure about Guillaume.. Okay, it IS the French variant of William, so.. And it also means "vehement protector".)
I died. I'm still giggling.

You also say *hides* very oftenSquidina said:It's just an expression. Like saying something is "cool", doesnt mean it's literally cool or cold, but "neat". Or saying someone is "hot" doesn't usually mean they have a fever, but are gorgeous. When I say I "died", it is just a figure of speech, not fact (if I'd really literally died, I don't think I'd be typing about it), it just means I was shocked and amused in this case, barely able to believe my eyes.
Pretty much. It's taken me a while to realize when someone's being sarcastic through text (actually, I still haven't figured this out) and that some expressions are just expressions that mean something different than what they say.DiabolicalGenius said:You also say *hides* very often
Squidina we really do like you, so you don't need to do that
I used to do things kind of like that when I first came here, but I don't anymore.
(And does me having Aspberger's explain why I could see it literally?)
I knew she hadn't died, but it's still an odd expression.SBManiac!!!!!! said:Pretty much. I guess so, I often thought that "I died" meant that a person laughed so hard at something, they ran out of breath and might have died but didn't actually do so. (Seeing how many times I've almost choked from my food while laughing, this expression is disturbingly literal for me. o.o) Also, some expressions just don't make a lot of sense to begin with. For example, how did "it's raining cats and dogs" come to mean "there's a really bad rainstorm outside"?DiabolicalGenius said:I knew she hadn't died, but it's still an odd expression.
It'd be really bad if one fell on your head, and it'd be heavy too, hence a heavy rainstorm. Or at least that's how I remember it.SBManiac!!!!!! said:I guess so, I often thought that "I died" meant that a person laughed so hard at something, they ran out of breath and might have died but didn't actually do so. Oh I get that, it's just that she uses it quite often.E.V.I.L said:Let me say something right now: It's all completely dependent on tone.
If they're laughing and happy in their post/RL when they say "I died", they probably didn't almost die.
If they sound serious and/or traumatized (which Squidina didn't sound like at all), they probably did almost die
I say I almost died quite often too even when I don't mean itDiabolicalGenius said:Oh I get that, it's just that she uses it quite often.

That's OK, I'm pretty well used to it. ;)Squidina said:Oh, it does. I didn't know you had Aspberger's, I'm very sorry. It explains a lot. I will be more considerate of that in the future then.
