I haven't really heard that too much, but it's probably because they have only seen the bad episodes.

I'm not sure what is my least favorite season I probably go with 6 or 7 but I think 7 is just quite hated to much for infamous episodes (A Pal for Gary, One Coarse Meal or Yours, Mine and Mine)

I have only seen about half of it so I can't really have an opinion.
