Why is it only the first half?
I'm guessing because this is when the show started going WAY too on-model to the point that the rest of the season looks the same that you cannot even tell who boarded it. Season 8 is especially guilty of that. But of course the only season 8 that doesn't look like its actual season are Face Freeze and the stop motion Christmas special.

Actually, season 7 had some different art styles later on. Most of them are hard to make out, but some episodes had more jagged, loose outlines for the characters and objects. I'll post pictures later.

I never really liked this image, mainly because it's pretty much saying SpongeBob only had 3 changes in design, which is definitely NOT TRUE.
His design never really changed
The different artists just drew him differently

I mean, like, they skipped how SpongeBob looked for pretty much ALL of the post-movie era, almost saying that he looked like how he did in FOAKP for a long time until he was drawn differently again.

How did you know it?! And, besides, you missed LIBB, Tutor Sauce and What's Eating Patrick. Are they having some unique styles?

I doubt that this style appeared in To Love a Patty. Perhaps it's the third style.

My favorite art styles are probably the thick-outline Season 2-3 episodes, or the Season 4 style used in Karate Island, Born to Be Wild, and Best Frendimies.

I'm so glad they changed his style in season 9.1 episodes. season 7 and the first part on season 9 always looked so weird to me.

Man, I am just not a fan of how bright he got in color after the movie. I think season 1 looks the best because 9 times out of 10 cel animation is better than digital ink and paint and always better than full digital. The only time its not is with action cartoons.

Now that seasons 10-11 have come and gone and season 12 has begun, time to bring this back to life and give a little analysis on the art styles and the list of episodes they're used in.

From what I've seen, season 10 has two art styles. The first one being a more "organic", thick-lined look and the second being a more thin-lined look, and the characters, for the most part, look a lot closer to how they looked in season 9:

Season 11 also has two art styles: the same "organic", thick-lined art style introduced in season 10, and a similar thin-lined art style, but for the latter, the characters' designs are highly inconsistent, the designs overall are more loosened up, and the outlines are a bit more "rough":

I commend you for posting images where they're on a white background - makes it easier to tell the difference lol
