#10 - Séance Schméance

I agree with most when they say that Season 9 is the season that has given Spongebob a fresh new look and that the show is improving over time. With episodes like Evil Spatula, Safety Deposit Krabs, Jailbreak!, and Don't Look Now, I can agree that the show quality is increasing. (All those episodes are honorable mentions.) There are 2 episodes this season that were good enough for this list: Plankton's Pet, and this episode. This episode isn't as good, but that doesn't mean it's not great, because it is.

One thing about this episode that I like is the humor. The ghosts are pretty funny, Patrick wanting to eat the furniture was funny (it was RARE that the writers could make Patrick funny in Seasons 5-8, with rare exceptions like Patricks Staycation.) The ghosts were definitely the highlight of this episode as I, since Season 2, have always wanted to see more ghosts. You could say I got my wish with Ghoul Fools, but I was more impressed with this episode than with that one.

Also, was that Séance holder in the beginning voiced by Mrs. Puff?

Headcanon: Mrs. Puff dressed as a séance-holding fish in order to scare Spongebob.

The general quality of this episode was very high and made it one to remember.

Seance Shmeance is good but not even close to one of my favorite post-movie episodes.
 
May need to re-watch it because i don't remember it well
 
I haven't seen this episode completely. Only parts of it but I have seen "Don't Look Now" and that was a pretty decent episode IMO.

Obvious pick is obvious. This episode is hilarious, with Squidward desperate to win a prize that Spongebob seems to win every time. This easily could have been a Squidward Torture Episode, but thankfully the humor in this episode saves it from falling into that pit. This episode has a very creative plot, and it was very funny to see Squidward continue to go crazy until finally winning, and being sure to tell that poor little boy about it.

I think that's what makes this episode stand out the most, and why I have very little to say about it. The humor is amazing, but there really isn't much else to talk about with this one. Squidward breaking down, Spongebob continuing to win... every joke hits and makes this episode one of the best.

I couldn't agree more. It's some of the funniest animation I've seen in any episode after the movie. I wish they had kept the look of the show like this.
