HD SpongeBob Intro

It looks great! It's not on seasons 1-8 for some reason, it's only Season 9, but it looks good. If you haven't seen it on TV yet, I saw it, & trust me, it looks better. If you pause it at 00:37, you can see more capitals in the logo. Every other letter.
 
The only difference is that this new theme has digital ink and paint, instead of real-life oil paint, and that it's 1080p Widescreen.

If you look closely, in It Came from Good Lagoon, it was the same shot of the island in SD they always used, but cut above and below. It wouldn't look nice in HD intro. In Truth or Square, only the animated parts were shot in HD. The Patchy bits, including the island part in the parody intros, were in SD.
Plus, Waller said on his Twitter that they had to re-do everything. Including the island.

Cool to see that they didn't change SB's design to his present s9 one. I mean it's not that a big of a deal to me either
way but if you're watching something from an older season and you see the HD theme, it would feel kinda off. Unless they're only rebroadcasting the HD intro with the newer episodes. (I haven't been keeping up with enough SB information to remember, I guess.) The animation is good but a tad slow and stuff, but again I don't mind too much. I get that they're trying to make the island look more clearer, so I can let that by.
 
It feels great and kinda satifsying knowing that they've finally remade the intro after so long (and by so long, I mean it's older than most of the people on this site), and I hope they continue to use it 'till the end of the series, or at least until we get some sort of brand new, futuristic way of viewing TV shows.

I'm guessing the reason they're not using it on Season 1-8 is because they're SD, while Season 9 is HD.

I Hate How They Recreated Everything In This Intro They Should Left It Like The Original This Time In Widescreen And Nothing Has To Be Recreated But I Think This Will Be In Lame And Fortune
 
Awesome work! Now, I wonder if they'll put it in the foreign dubs, unlike SU whose second intro has never aired here :|
 
The changes aren't huge, but it does fit in with the rest of the show now.

It's the squashed original shot of the island I talked about. It wasn't shot in HD, so they had to make the new one.

But it looks like it was originally shot on film to me? So they could have scanned in the original negatives and made it HD, although presumably would still have to crop it to fill the screen.

If you compare it to the original, they actually distorted the image to make it too wide. This stood out to me when I saw the episode and distracted me.

Although, it has been in widescreen HD in both movies and they looked better than here. Not sure if those used CG or a practical effect. I think it was at least practical in the first film. I hope that there's some chance that it was a temp shot in this new intro and that it will be better when it officially airs in America, because it looks kinda bad here. Maybe I'll get used to it, but right now it's kinda weird.

Besides that I love the new intro!!! :D

They have to recreate things in order for them to be in widescreen. Otherwise the image would need to be cropped or distorted.

I was thinking about dubbing the new intro into different languages after a iTunes quality intro is released, I can make a French one if you want. :)
 
I know that in some languages, they've removed the text that says "SpongeBob SquarePants" and replace it with different things, like pictures of his face, a cute bubble version of him, and coral that be bounces on instead of words. I wonder if they'll update the intro that way for those versions. :)

In the German dub, they actually translate all of the text to say "SpongeBob Schwammkopf" so I'm wondering how the German version of this intro will look.
