Do you like Patrick Star?

Patrick Star is a somewhat divisive character, even among Spongebob fans. Some people love him, others hate him, some are indifferent.

Your thoughts?

Pros:
1 ) He can be a good, supportive friend.
2 ) He's cute-looking and squishy.
3 ) He's pink.
4 ) He's a lovable idiot.
5 ) His voice is charming.

Cons:
1 ) He can be a back-stabbing jerk.
2 ) He's fat and lazy.
3 ) He can be obnoxious
4 ) His stupidity harms other people
5 ) He can be a bully

Do you like Patrick Star? Would you want to be his friend?

I prefer him when he is a mellow contrast to SpongeBob (like he was early on) or when SpongeBob and Patrick are being silly and cute together. I don't really like it when they make him too much like SpongeBob, too hyperactive or childlike.

When Patrick isn't ticking me off, like in "The Card", I can like him. I like the running gag of him looking like he's about to make a major, relevant observation, then he 'folds' with something stupid/irrelevant, that cracks me up.

Honestly, he gets on my nerves a *lot*. I definitely prefere him over Mrs. Puff, but he's definitely one of my least favorite characters. So, I'd say that while I certainly don't hate him, I'm not a big fan of him either.

How his stupidity and jerkishness hurt others really, really irritates me (see: "The Card" - that episode makes me want to strangle him). But, like, in "Squilliam Returns", "House Fancy", and a number of other episodes, he really cracks me up

He was a great character until about season 5 when he became so annoying and stupid around SpongeBob and everyone else that his character just went down the tube.

I kind of agree with you. Patrick is sometimes at his funniest when he stoops the lowest.
Like when he went on a psychotic rampage on Valentine's Day, or when he punched Spongebob in the face and gave him a black eye for calling him "Tubby."

Sponges heal instantly at least in some cases shown in The Bully so it's not like it really hurt him. :p
