GreenblattBob episodes (episodes with C.H. Greenblatt’s distinctive style):
  • ‘Dying for Pie’ (CubeBob)
  • ‘Squidville’ (SailorBob)
  • ‘Gary Takes a Bath’ (NoodleBob)
  • ‘The Algae’s Always Greener’ (SailorBob)
  • ‘Wet Painters’ (MarkerBob)
  • ‘Fear of a Krabby Patty’ (purified)
I Had an Accident was too?

Here's a season 3 episode of Dexter where there's an episode with dot crawl that also has a fresh print:

I feel we should discuss how title card credits for SpongeBob changed over time

I'm learning how to draw backgrounds, here's an attempt at drawing a Markerbob background

  • 1998 (‘Frankendoodle’, ‘Krusty Love’ and ‘Sailor Mouth’)
  • 1999 (early episodes)
  • 2000 (typical episode)
  • 2001 (‘Christmas Who?’)

Mermaidman and Barnacleboy III looks 1999 as well, the dot crawl in that episode was atrocious, the colors were also very dark.

I’ve noticed that the animation in Season 3 moves pretty similarly to how WB cartoons did in the 50s, whereas the animation in the newest SpongeBob episodes has very fluid movements that are more like Tex Avery’s MGM cartoons and the older, pre-1943 or so WB cartoons (Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, and Norm McCabe come to mind). Like, the pre-movie animation isn’t bad, but it definitely has a more “controlled” and slower feel to it and it’s not as smooth, whereas the post-sequel animation is buttery smooth.

Yeah, season 2-3 have less in-between frames than the rest of the series does, especially markerbob.
So that’s why it looks so different! I was wondering why. I didn’t mention it in my post, but I can also definitely tell a dramatic difference between Season 3 and even early Season 4.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. I still wonder why there’s no markerbob past Pranks a Lot. Pre movie is also animated at a much lower resolution.

I think I remember Vincent Waller mentioning that Hillenburg occasionally changed the model sheets of the characters. Don’t quote me on that though because I’m not totally sure
