137a. One Coarse Meal

That's fine, it just irks me that post-movie haters are treated worse than people who destroy the environment.

I also think some post-movie defenders are hypocrites. They get angry at post-movie haters saying "You aren't a true fan if you like post-movie" yet they don't respect post-movie haters' opinions.

Also, people let the ending to Nautical Novice ruin the episode for him yet gets angry at people who hate House Fancy because of the toenail scene.

Not that post-movie haters are flawless people, though. Some of their arguments are rediculous beyond belief.

I rest my case. If anyone wants to rage at me for this post, that's fine. Just don't expect me to come back to this site after you do rage at me.

So I tried rewatching this.

I couldn't I just couldn't.

I just couldn't.

This episode is HORRIBLE. I wanted to travel to Nick Studios and freaking throttle the creators.

Just no, I had to stop when "Pearl" came inside the Chum Bucket to scare Plankton. WHy, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY WOULD YOU DRIVE A CHARACTER (WHO'S NOT EVEN THAT EVIL) TO ::dolphin noise:: SUICIDE BY SCARING HIM TO DEATH?!?! ESPECIALLY A CUTE ONE WHO DID NOTHING BUT HARMLESS EVIL THAT HE USUALLY DOES? WHYYYYY?!?!?!?

NO, I can't even review this anymore.

After my bottom 50 was done, I re watched this episode.

I should have put it MUCH higher than 23, like that missing #4.

YEAH, THAT'S IT, OCM IS MY FOURTH LEAST FAVORITE EPISODE.

I say this because I just cried after the episode ended.
THE PLANKTON ABUSE. THAT'S WHAT KILLS ANY AND ALL LIKENESS OF THIS EPISODE.
He's the most adorable thing on Earth, and they try to scare him out of his mind. NO.
My main problem is when HE COMMITS SUICIDE.
I would just strangle myself if he actually died.
I would throw my TV screen out the window along with myself.
It was even designed to be FUNNY.
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT? AND ON A KIDS SHOW NO LESS?
I just can't do this.
I hate this episode.
It doesn't even exist.
No way.

One Coarse Meal was indeed soul-crushing. It killed my once favorite character, Mr. Krabs, too! :(

Not only do I hate Mr. Krabs but now im starting to hate Spongebob
This couldve been a GREAT episode IF Spongebob didn't:
1- Lie about Krabs fear (turns out mr.krabs wasnt even scared of mimes!)
2- Didn't backstab plankton
If they got Mr. Krabs back, I wouldve liked this episode.
Spongebob, you jerk.
Plankton got so much abuse in this episode, it's not even funny...at ALL. It's like the writers trying to use suicide as a joke...

I agreed about SpongeBob in this episode. One Coarse Meal episode is just HORRIBLE and in my opinion this episode is more unwatchable than A Pal for Gary. There's another thing that pisses me off. This episode got good reviews on tv.com and most of reviwers rated it 10/10.

SpongeBob didn't lie, Mr. Krabs is afraid of mimes.

Really, I have no beef with SpongeBob in this episode. I don't think he had any cruel intentions at the end. When he told Plankton what Krabs was up to and his fear, I think it was just to stop Plankton's suicide attempt, not to have Plankton come and torment his boss. Of course SpongeBob doesn't want Krabs to be tormented, he idolizes Krabs. Knowing Plankton, he would have stayed there for hours torturing Krabs, so I think SpongeBob just wanted to send Plankton on his way when he showed him the whale projection.

True. It's still a terrible episode. The writers expect us to cheer when Plankton attempts to kill himself. Not only that but they also use it as a laughing matter. Not to mention, the episode MAKES NO SENSE. How can Plankton be scared of whales? Remember in The Algae is Always Greener, Plankton wasn't afraid of Pearl?

The last point can be excused due to the show's lack of continuity, but I agree with everything else. This episode is really sadistic and I honestly can't fathom how the writers thought it would be a good idea to turn Plankton's suicide attempt into a laughing matter.

I completely agree with this.
Yeah, I respect people's opinions, but I'm surprised that this episode got so many positive reviews!

HANDS DOWN! THIS IS THE WORST SEASON 7 EPISODE EVER. I thought this episode was much worse than A Pal For Gary. Not just the worst season 7 episode, It's also one of my least favorite SpongeBob episodes. Definetly on my bottom 10.. I don't understand why this episode got many good reviews on tv.com. The only good part was the begining because that part was very enjoyable but I'm gonna rate this episode 0/10 because this episode get worse after Mr. Krabs finds out that Plankton is afraid of whales and dressed up like Pearl to scare Plankton. I really hated Mr. Krabs in this episode. Mr. Krabs was okay in season 7 but he was unlikeable in this episode and I really wanted to punch Mr. Krabs. Also SpongeBob says that Mr. Krabs's afraid of mimes to Plankton but at the end, he later uses a projector to scare Plankton. Are you serious SpongeBob? SpongeBob was unlikeable in this episode. Pearl was okay in this episode. Also the worst part was Plankton's suicide attempt. That part is even worse than the suicide jokes in "Are You Happy Now?" because at least Squidward didn't commit suicide. The writers of this episode forgot that kids watch SpongeBob too. I still don't understand why many members of tv.com liked this episode. This episode is just one of the most overrated post-movie episodes. I will never watch this episode again. I really felt bad for Plankton in this episode. This episode makes you want to watch Best Frenemies, Friend or Foe and The Other Patty again. At least these episodes are great and worth watching again. I don't recommend this episode, especially to post-movie haters and Plankton fans. 0/10

By the way, this is my reaction to the writers of this episode (2:28):

I changed my opinion. NOW ONE COARSE MEAL IS MY LEAST FAVORITE SPONGEBOB EPISODE OF ALL TIME. NOT YOU PETS OR PESTS ANYMORE!!!

I definitely don't like this episode. I don't get how it has so many positive reviews on TV.com. Mr. Krabs was about to commit suicide and wanted to scare Plankton. He also was a jerk. The beginning wasn't bad until Pearl came and Mr. Krabs had an idea to scare Plankton. SpongeBob was alright in this episode. The good thing he did is he told Plankton that Mr. Krabs is afraid of mimes, but how the projector appear in the Krusty Krab. The projector showed whales. I think it was Mr. Krabs' idea. One of my least favorite episodes and is also in my bottom 20.

2/10. Without the beginning, the episode will be 0/10.

Why do I feel like people are making a big deal over really nothing? I've watched this episode a couple times and Plankton wanting to be run over never bothered me. Yes, I do feel just a little bit concerned for Plankton. But that's what SB was for. He was the voice of reason during this. I think the fact was that nobody thought he would actually would be run over is why it didn't bother me. Deep down I kept thinking that Krabs knew he probably wouldn't actually die. (Does them being once life time pals mean anything? Probably not, but one little buckaroo can dream). Plankton goes back to doing evil in the end anyways and Mr. Krabs does bad too. They both get what they deserved and I thought it was handled out OK. They didn't need to have Krabs winning at the end when obviously he DIDN'T DESERVE to win at all. Someone hand Krabs a can of green peas like the ending of Krabbyland maybe?

What bothers me is how Plankton's suicide attempt is being played more for laughs rather than being handled in a tasteful way. To be honest, I probably would have liked this episode if it been handled differently, but that's just it. It's how the subject matter is handled that bothers me, not the subject matter itself. I'm totally for children's shows tackling subjects that are darker and more serious, but for God's sake take them seriously. Don't use them for some cheap laughs.

If Krabs felt bad at least, it could have been a real heart warming ending.

Yeah, if Mr. Krabs had at the very least shown a bit of regret, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him in this episode. His reaction to Plankton's suicide attempt was so callous and cruel. :(
