If You Can Recreate The SpongeBob Opening Theme...

Let's say Nickelodeon went batshrimp insane and scrap the original SpongeBob opening theme. Then, they ask you to recreate a new theme for the show. How would you make it?

Personally, I would keep the "Irish Rovers" identity, but perhaps with a different song. Maybe this one.

But change the lyrics to tell the backstory. Probably add a couple of characters in the intro, too. And that's about it.

At the time, I was mildly disappointed that the stop motion/CeeLo opening wasn't a permanent addition. Sue me. :P

I still really like it, but nowadays I'm glad that they kept the same opening all these years. If they had a new one it would only make the pre-movie/post-movie rift even bigger. I guess if they ever rebooted the series they'd have to change the theme song, though I'd still keep the "Are you ready kids?" part no matter what. Since it isn't sung it wouldn't be a problem if they wanted a new tune.
