Let's just get one of the classics out of the way.
I actually think that there are videos on youtube and stuff of people with special equipment and stuff making fire underwater, but we can take a moment to discuss this.

It's happened in a lot of episodes... here's a few

And my personal favorite from Party Pooper Pants when Patchy send SpongeBob the invitation and the ink is smudged. He says something like, "Whoever sent the invitations clearly didn't understand the physical limitations of life underwater."
and then they throw them into the fire lol

in none of those pictures are there bubbles floating around so they aren't really underwater

...

don't judge me

Usually when a fire is so big water doesn't really do anything to it, so maybe they just have huge fires that take a while to burn out.

I love this error :p I'ts like my favorite one.

Well, obviously, it's not a real fire. It is an artificial fire constructed by the writers and animation specialists as an opposition to common sense and practicality. No one likes listening anymore, so they rebel and say "screw this, I'm going to go set the ocean on fire."

Plain and simple. Go rebels :D

The tailpipe of the Invisible Boatmobile lights every fire that ever occurs in Bikini Bottom, and no one ever realizes because it is invisible. :thumb1: I think I might have solved it.

There's a special type of ocean fire we humans haven't discovered yet.

Though actually, when I say that, I am dead serious. We have only discovered a whooping 1% of our oceans, there is a possibilty for actual ocean fires. ;)

Bikini Bottom isn't really underwater. It's a sham.

IMAGINATION.

All jokes aside, it's water-resistant fire.

Because of the molecular structure of the photon forces, the physics of indulgent life make cynosure functions believable in the Kalabor theorems vast environmental elements.

In other words, its impossible. Its just a show.

Of course, they also reference this error in the episode your second screenshot is from - Life of Crime.

Patrick: "Hey if we're underwater how come there's a fire-" and then the fire goes out haha

HOLY CRAP I GET IT NOW

it only took me ten years

I'm not sure we're ever going to find a good explanation for this one
might have to skip it and go ahead and post up #4
but I'll give it a little longer to see if someone comes up with anything

Best I can think of is that anytime there is a fire.... it's actually just their imagination

They didn't cut the scene
The scene never actually happened

:O
Maybe Squidward was having a day dream of what the sercuity in the KK might be like when he entered the building. :p
