What's so great about The Abrasive Side?

Personally, I think that The Abrasive Side is one of the worst episodes of season 7. While I do think that that episode has a few good jokes like Mr. Krabs finding out what Overtime means, and that weird butter joke, the rest of the episode is just so mean spirited. The first part of the episode rips of Rock Bottom and Overbooked, it involves the towns peoples being real jerks to Spongebob, and it feels like a chore to watch. I hate Spongebobs abrasive side, he is so mean spirited to everyone and while it isn't Spongebobs fault here, it's really not fun to watch and I really hated the ending. Can anyone tell me any other positives about this episode?

Because MrEnter said that he liked it, so therefore all his idiot fanboys like it too.

IMO it's just kind of mediocre and kind of bad.

That makes so much more sense just thinking about it.

And you're right, the episode really is a weird combination of mediocre and bad. But the bad is REALLY bad so therefore it's one of NY least favorites.

The way you worded this implies that the general opinion is that it's a great episode. Is that the case? I don't see many people talking about it being particularly good or bad.

What do you mean by the first part ripping off Rock Bottom and Overbooked? Because he misses the bus and is a pushover? They're pretty minor similarities so it's a stretch to say that The Abrasive Side rips either episode off.

He considers it his favorite episode of season 7.

Yeah, not that I LIKE the episode, but Spongebob has ALWAYS had problems related to his confidence and assertiveness. As early as the pilot and "Walking Small." It's part of his character.

Not because he said that. People loved the ep before he said it's a great episode. I loved it before he said it too. It seems like whenever we get an opnion on the show, we always get it from Mr. Enter (sarcasm).

I personally like the episode and not because Mr.Enter likes it too (yes, i'm his fan but not his blind clone). The episode had some funny jokes like stated in the OP, and Spongebob had a reason why he acted so mean spirited (his side who took over him) so it can be forgiven.

Oh and If you are wondering why I liked the episodes, I liked it because it was not only funny, the episode has an interesting and creative premise. It's mean-spirited but it uses it well because the abrasive side is mean, not SpongeBob and characters don't stay oblivious about SpongeBob's situasion. If you don't like the episode, I respect that.

Well tbh in general none of the season 7 episodes were that great, let alone The Abrasive Side, but it does beat out many others. Still not that good of an episode.

Mr. Enter of all people liked it?! Are you serious?! He's the one always whining about morals and bad messages in a show that almost never has real attempts at messages, but this episode is one of the few times they did try to have a real lesson (as forced as it might have been) and the lesson was horrible!!!

"Being yourself" doesn't mean letting people walk all over you and never trying to change anything about yourself that might make your life better. It just means not to be fake in order to get people to like you. SpongeBob wanted an abrasive side for himself to improve his own life; having the lesson be "just be yourself" when it was about attempted self-improvement is terrible writing!!!

As you can see, this is one of the few episodes that annoys me. :P

As much as I rip on the new episodes, "Treats!" was the only episode when Spongebob actually realized that being assertive doesn't mean sacrificing his kind nature.

Enter said he liked The Abrasive Side because he said "Spongebob is a sponge and the show needs to recognize that more."

It's decent but I don't really find it all great. I liked the moral and the way they treated the conflict, and the idea of an actual abrasive side was clever, but overall there were some confusing parts that took away from it. Also, I'm really curious of the driving force of Enter changing his mind from thinking it was one of the season's worst to one of it's best.

I love Abrasive Side, and I don't even know who Mr. Enter is '-'

But I have personal reasons to like abrasive side.

My beloved Mask <3
Abrasive side really looks like SpongeBob wearing the Mask... And this is soooo cooool

And I'm even creating a Abrasive "oc" It's the abrasive, but not in SpongeBob body, and he will be a little more nice, and he will have a girlfriend... (The reason he's more nice)
