SpongeBob crossed over with an American retail store before, when the Target Corporation collaborated with Nickelodeon for a Target store commercial in 2001 to promote their line of then-new SpongeBob merchandise sold in multiple categories throughout their stores at the time, something that was almost unheard of at a retail store at the time, since most competing retail chains at the time, had limited amounts of SpongeBob merchandise available...the amount of SpongeBob merchandise that Wal-Mart used to carry back in those days is "small potatoes" compared to what most retailers (including Walmart) carry as of 2024...
