“Nickelodeon will not be moving forward with production on a fourth season of Victorious following the final season that will premiere this fall,” the network said in a statement. “We are very proud of the show, its very talented cast, and our audience will continue to see many of them in upcoming new Nickelodeon projects.” The news comes on the heels of Nick just ordering two iCarly spinoff pilots from Schneider: Sam & Cat, starring series’ Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande, and Gibby toplined by Noah Munck.

Strange that Victorious is cancelled and yet Big Time Rush was just renewed for a 4th season, despite Victorious getting better ratings. Maybe they need BTR on the air in order to promote music sales etc. I wonder if this means Nickelodeon is intending to pick up both "Sam & Cat" and "Gibby"? I suppose they at least have that option now (because there's no way Schneider would be able to run 3 shows at once).

That is kind of weird. Even though I didn't like Victorious very much, I would rather have BTR cancelled

That is odd! Nickelodeon hardly ever cancel shows nowadays, it must be to do with all those other new shows

They could have gotten rid of Fred instead... Can't say that I actually watched much of Victorious though (really don't watch any teennick shows)

According to Dan Schneider, the cancellation of Victorious had nothing to do with "Sam & Cat" or "Gibby". Even he seemed surprised and upset at the cancellation, so it was likely he was intending to work on all 3 shows at once.

Pretty soon the other live action shows will stop at 60 episodes, now that we all know it. Now we know what trend nick is going on. It's bad.

Victorious was unbelievably ridiculous. But Sam & Cat? seriously Mr. Schneider? Aren't you happy enough? I would watch Gibby though.

I think this is ridiculous-not that they are cancelling Victorious-but Sam and Cat? Really? That's like having a show about Plankton and Timmy Turner...two characters from different shows that are nothing alike...

Here's what Dan Schneider wrote on his blog about the cancellation....

Hey guys! If I misspell anything in this post, please forgive me – I'm in the back seat of a car, typing on my phone!

Okay, first things first…

There is a whole NEW season of Victorious coming your way. We just finished shooting 15 new episodes, and they're amazing. If you love Victorious, I feel sure you will love the NEW episodes coming!

By now, a lot of you have heard that Victorious will not be returning for a 4th season. That is true. This was the network's decision – not mine.

Please understand: Almost all Nickelodeon live-action shows have a life span of about 60 episodes. We made around 60 episodes of Drake & Josh… of Zoey 101… and we made 41 episodes of The Amanda Show… and all those shows were big hits.

So, it's not unusual for a Nick show to do a run of just 60 episodes. I would love to have made more than 60 of Victorious, but that's how it usually goes. Whenever I begin a new TV series for Nick, 60 episodes is the plan, from the beginning.

I've heard some people use the word "canceled" – which isn't accurate in this case. The term "canceled" is usually used when a TV show gets poor ratings, causing the network to end the show early. TV shows that aren't doing wellget canceled.

Ratings for Victorious have always been high, thanks to the FANS. Also, just last month, Victorious was nominated for three Emmys. And just before that, Victorious won the Kids Choice Award for Favorite TV Show.

We're all extremely proud of the show, and all we've accomplished.

Also – and it's really important that you know this – the network's decision about Victorious had nothing to do with "Gibby" or "Sam & Cat". I promise. Even if there was no "Gibby" and no "Sam & Cat" – the network still would have ended Victorious after its 60-episode run.

I know that some of you are upset and angry – and while I feel terrible about that, I'm also flattered by it. I really appreciate that you care so much. It means you love the show, which makes me feel very proud.

But I ask that you please not be angry with Victoria, or Leon, Liz, Ariana, Avan... or ANY of the Victorious cast members or staff. They all wanted Victorious to continue – so did I.

But remember! Stay psyched about the 15 new episodes of Victorious coming your way!

And I hope you'll continue to support Victoria Justice, and me, and all the stars of Victorious. I can almost guarantee you – they will make a big impact on the future of entertainment.

And finally... of course... I will keep making the best, funniest TV shows I know how to make, for as long as people have fun watching them.

I'll see you online later, and I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Thanks for listening. As always, please be nice to each other. :)

Seriously? Hmm...well, if almost all Nick's live-action shows get the boot after 60 episodes, what can we do about it? Still, it seems so weird considering Victorious premiered about two years ago. (Then again, "Robotomy" wasn't even on Cartoon Network for a year before they pulled the plug on it.) The show itself wasn't bad, it was actually kind of funny and definitely better than the recent seasons of iCarly.
As for Schneider's next two shows:
"Sam and Cat": Seriously, WTF? Sounds like a bad crossover-fic.
"Gibby": OF COURSE!

That's like having a show about Plankton and Timmy Turner...two characters from different shows that are nothing alike...

"Plankton and Timmy"
Synopsis: An evil genius befriends a boy with powers that he desperately wants access to. Hijinks ensue as he struggles to keep his true, malevolent intentions under wraps.

Let's pitch this to Nickelodeon.

I'd actually like to see a pilot episode for that, it sounds better than most shows on Nickelodeon these days :P

Why are there so many mixes of old shows?

Compared to all the brand new pilots Nickelodeon has just ordered, two spin-offs isn't really that much. Although I would have liked to have seen a brand new Dan Schneider show.
