SpongeBob now has the TV-Y7 rating.
TV-yWhat did it used to have?
SpongeBob SquarePants
Deep down in the Pacific Ocean.......Squidward's nerves, SpongeBob's usually smack in the middle of a strange situation with his best starfish buddy, Patrick, or his thrill-seeking squirrel pal, Sandy Cheeks. (TV Y)
* Third time mistaken to be rated TV-Y7 for a rude appearance of SpongeBob naked in the hospital.
I completely disagree. SpongeBob is a family show, a sitcom, and children's show. And a show for anyone else who likes talking sponges... :sbx:SpongeBob is not a show for kids under 7 anyway. There's stuff in SpongeBob that would go right over their heads.
TV-M <3What did it used to have?

And chubby, pink starfish. And worms that bark..
True. But ratings have gone just a bit down for a different reason.I think they upped the rating because recent episodes have had more adult humor/content in them. I think in particular of the innuendos in "That's No Lady!" and some of the double entendres, like the "genius showing" part.
Somehow, I don't think the show would have gotten a Y7 during Hillenburg's tenure.
And a very negative squid/octopus.And chubby, pink starfish. And worms that bark..
