I'm moreso curious on people's take on this. From the digging I've done, apparently in The Spongebob Squarepants Trivia Book, published in the year 2000 and written by David B. Fain (previous episode writer for the serious) remarks at one point that Krabs was previously married to a mysterious "Mrs. Krabs," who was Pearl's biological mother. I was taken by surprise, as I always figured Krabs had adopted Pearl as a single Dad.

However, I've also seen some people claiming to debunk this information from the book. In a reply such as this one, which involves conflicting statements within the book: https://spongebob.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Mrs._Krabs_(Pearl's_mother)#False_info?

I guess my question is how many Spongebob fans consider the trivia book canon to the actually series? Whether or not you do, feel free to share your thoughts as to why! 😀

Alex Bale once published a pretty morbid theory that Mr. Krabs vanquished her when he fought in war, took in her baby (Pearl) but is now using the carcass to make Krabby Patties and that's what the "secret" is.

Personally, I don't believe The SpongeBob SquarePants Trivia Book is canon considering how long ago it came out plus SpongeBob rarely following continuity/established concepts (for the most part). I'm sure some trivia has held up, but I doubt a lot of it has especially because the book was written and published when season 1 was airing while season 2 was being produced.

As Aesop has already said here, SpongeBob really does not have much of a continuity or canon, it does the bare minimum when it comes to this but even so it's contradicted itself in the show before. So I would not rely on a book that was published 25 years ago. I also prefer to believe that Pearl is adopted, I just refuse to believe they could be biologically related.
