The worst Squidward Torture moments

I've always wondered how the writers thought excessive Squidward Torture was "funny." In my opinion, there's absolutely nothing funny about Squidward's music getting burnt up in the start of "New Fish in Town" and Squidward accidentally cutting apart his bonsai tree in "Bubble Troubles." Obviously those scenes are just there to start off the plot of those episodes, but why did the writers have to make Squidward suffer like that?

Squidward put in so much effort to try to make his dreams happen, and then they're ruined in an instant. Unless someone's a sadistic Squidward-hater, I don't see how anyone could sit down and watch those scenes without their blood boiling.

And then there's also episodes where Squidward genuinely deserved a happy ending, like in "Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom," but it just doesn't happen for no reason other than the writers wanting to torture him.

I obviously don't find any of those scenes funny- in fact, it's really frustrating to see SpongeBob and Patrick ruin Squidward's happiness time after time and for no reason at all in Seasons 6-8. It makes me wonder what was going on inside the writers' minds when they thought writing any of those scenes would be enjoyable for viewers to watch.

Thankfully Squidward hasn't been as unfairly tortured as much in the newer seasons (with the big exception of Ink Lemonade)... But it just goes to show how somewhat out-of-touch SpongeBob SquarePants was with their fans during the "dark era..."

“the thing” is definitely a THING *insert laughing track here* it definetly has the worst case of squidward torture but if we’re talking full scenes? Jolly lodgers has the worst squidward torture scenes like LEAVE HIM ALONE

Either The Thing or Ink Lemonade' if we're talking full episodes. I don't get 'The Thing'. Never mind the script, that's not even a funny concept for an episode. That's horrifying

I understand squidward is the "slapstick often happens to this guy" character, but there is a point where you feel bad for him instead of laughing
Like The Thing, it just goes on for too long

Inl Lemonade was pretty cruel I would say. Patrick was very bad in this episode. Poor Squidward

Ink Lemonade. I personally like the episode but Squidward literally lost his mind because of SpongeBob and Patrick's "black lemonade" crap.

"Cephalopod Lodge", "Restraining SpongeBob", and "Smoothe Jazz in Bikini Bottom" stand out for how utterly contrived Squidward's suffering is.

SpongeBob and Patrick (the latter especially) shoot straight past Hanlon's Razor, straight into Grey's Law.

Well, we already know I hardly see a problem with these "torture moments", but I'd say the only episode to really get me ticked off was The Thing, just all of it. Smoothe Jazz in Bikini Bottom had its moments as well.

Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom is most definitely a Squidward torture pron, but I think the worst moments are probably found in episodes like Choir Boys or Boating Buddies.
