Yeah, you know which scene I'm talking about :P

I've seen a lot of hate on websites about the scene where Patrick almost karate chops a baby (yes, I know it's mentioned in a Mr. Enter video, but that's not what bothers me), and though I guess the hate is understandable, there's something that confuses me

If that scene gets hate, why does nobody get angry about the scene where Patrick almost willingly crushes Junior ("I'll take care of this!") in Rock-A-Bye-Bivalve? I'm not saying that scene deserves any hate, but I find it odd that one scene of Patrick and a baby gets a lot of hate, and another very similar scene doesn't

I actually didn't mind that scene. I kinda like dark humor. Besides, Spongebob held Patrick back. It's good to see at least one supportive character. That's kinda heartwarming. I think Patrick didn't really wanted to kill that baby, because he stopped after Spongebob held him back. If he was a bloody murderer then he was still trying to kill the baby.

I forgot it was even a scene, but even if he did chop it, the baby would be injured, start to cry, and Patrick would be taken to the police, SpongeBob wouldn't dare bail him out after that in the need to teach him a lesson, heck unless he broke out of jail (most likely take his arm off there after a talk to SpongeBob then end because SB logic) it'd save a lotta the damage caused by him, or make it 10x worse if the aforementioned breaking out did happen.

Infamous? Why? If he chopped the baby, I would've understood, but he didn't did he? The only people who seem to be troubled by that scene are Enter and his Enterbots. That's the literal definition of dark humour.

Episodes like The Splinter, House Fancy, and One Coarse Meal were infamous because they made horrible situations graphically real. The baby chopping scene in Karate Star didn't even have a baby getting chopped. What's the issue?

Here's my take on it. NOTE: I'm not calling you out, SBRoxMan, I'm calling out the folks who are "offended" by that scene:

Did it happen? No. Then don't fuss like it actually happened. I'm the most biased Classic SpongeBob era fan out there, and yet this is mind-boggling. Why allow it in one episode (Rock-A-Bye Bivalve) but not the other.

If it did happen, then you have a right to complain.

Enterbots.
I'm one of his fans and I don't necessarily agree with what he says. In fact, Karate Star is actually one of my personal favorites. But yes, the scene is literally just dark humor, and I don't see why it's hated so much.

That's why I put quotation marks around the word "Infamous" in the title, i don't agree with the hate it gets, I have no issue with the scene. My main point is that I've seen plenty of people say they don't like that scene specifically, and I find it odd since it was never a problem in Rock-A-Bye Bivalve

Because people get offended by everything these days? And maybe because Rock-a-Bye-Bivalve took place in the good era of Spongebob, so nothing could possibly be wrong with it...I think that people seem to be paying more attention to little scenes that bother them lately.

Before Mr. Enter reviewed the episode, I never heard much hate toward the scene (or really the episode). But when he did review, I saw some people be like,"OMG, when Patrick nearly chops that baby I nearly fainted, ::dolphin noise:: Patrick." (not exactly like that but you get the point). As SBRox said, why don't they hate Patrick when he nearly kills Junior? It comes across as hypocritical and shows tons of bias to the pre-movie era. Also, the episode isn't ruined by one scene (ANY episode isn't ruined entirely by one scene).

People not only pay more attention to this episode, because it's recent, but also because in a 'bad' (episode was good IMO) episode people are generally more nitpicking. SBRoxMan is right to mention that scene Rock a bye Bivalve - it's the same as Sandy being starved of oxygen in both Bubble Troubles and Pressure - I think they're both good, especially Pressure - #2 best of alltime, but the same principle seems to apply - continuously illogical.

Maybe people get offended by everything these days. I find that scene funny, I like the dark humor. It could be that the people that hate the scene where Patrick karate chops a baby, but they are not offended by the scene from Rock-a-Bye Bivalve think that pre-movie Spongebob could do nothing wrong.

People hate on this scene because it's child abuse. I don't have anything against dark humor, I found that scene funny, but some people take this scene way too seriously. He didn't actually hit the baby. Come on, it's just a joke.

Which episode had the line "assault your own baby"? I thought that was the funniest thing of all time.
