So in a few episodes, it's been shown that Spongebob has a huge personal library somewhere in the lower levels of his house. It's filled with dozens of books. I find this kinda interesting, because Spongebob isn't the type of dude that we'd assume to be very cerebral or cultured.

What do you think he reads about down there? What kinds of books do you think a guy like him would own? (My theory is that he inherited most of them from a deceased relative.)

His diary, a full novelization of the history of boating, probably a bunch of help books. Funny enough Gary dreamt about having his own library in Sleepy Time. Possibly Gary spends a lot of time down there (he's seen reading the newspaper in Rock-a-Bye Bivavle) and wants his own?

Maybe Spongebob put Gary in his will, and he promised all of his books to Gary upon his demise?

Maybe they are all Gary's books, for the reasons Cha mentioned.
...That's a good theory. I didn't think of that, but it makes a lot of sense.
