You know what'd be cool? If this movie was a musical and they used songs like "Employee of the month" and all these other songs Tom Kenny made. I don't know but I think it'd be really cool. After the first movie there were A LOT more specials and 2 TV movies I just wanna see another musical episode. I loved Hello Bikini Bottom and It's a SpongeBob Christmas. I mean we already have a song in the trailer....WELCOME TO DA JUNGLE!!!!

that musical thing would suck. just like atlantis squarepantis.
What about The Sponge Who Could Fly? That was a musical and it was awesome.

I honestly really, really don't want the movie to be a musical. It doesn't make much sense for them to start singing in the middle of an apocalypse (unlike The Sponge Who Could Fly, for an example, which actually set in the mood for songs), and besides, they know how much people hate Atlantis Squarepantis- They won't do the "TellPeopleAboutASpecialAndDon'tSayIt'sAMusicalSoTheyWouldBeDisappointedWhenItAirs" trick again. With Tom Kenny in the crew, I doubt it would move to that direction.

To be fair, the ending of the first movie was as close to "singing in the middle of an apocalypse" as you can get and it was awesome. So were the Now That We're Men and tear of the Goofy Goobers scenes, so if they do it right it works fine. Although the first movie isn't exactly a musical, it does have several well-placed songs and you never get the Atlantis Squarepantis "oh boy, more singing" feeling.

A few years ago Tom Kenny said that they had already written a song for the new movie so there will definitely be singing somewhere, but I don't think you have to worry about it being a musical in the strictest sense. I'm expecting something similar to the first movie - a handful of songs in appropriate places but plenty of room for more serious and emotional moments too.

That sounds like a good mixup; it worked well before.

Because the songs suck and none of the characters can sing. And even when they do, they sing about what we already know.
Tom Kenny is a REALLY good singer he writes the best spongebob songs ever. There's albums of them but most of the songs haven't even been featured in episodes. Look up Employee of the Month and Wet Wet Christmas. They're my favorite! But let's not get off topic. I think in the movie they should get Patrick a girlfriend.

All of the characters can sing pretty good... also, what do you mean by "they sing about what we already know"?

He means in Atlantis SquarePantis, characters sing about what they love most.

Squidward - art
Sandy - science
Mr. Krabs - money
Patrick - uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I've only heard WWC like one time but I can definitely agree on EotM.

Nope.
I can't even imagine this guy in a relationship (non-platonic) nope.
During the second date

Patrick: "Have you seen my underpants?"
Girl: "No, Patrick."
gets closer
"Do you want to?"
