Season 2 looks kinda bad in comparison to other shows of it's time period

Original Raw and Uncut

Two-Headed Starfish
Yes, I've made several topics about Season 2's animation. Now, yes, Season 2 looks crisp and clear on DVD, but I'm referring to how they look on tape, when they air on TV. We all know that coloring issues are a big problem in season 2. From Spongebob's golden color in Frankendoodle, his albinism in Procrastination, to his green-ish tint in Sailor Mouth. Other shows never had this problem when they went digital. Family Guy has been digital since day one, all the colors were consistent. Think of Simpsons when it went digital, homer was the same yellow every episode. (I even had a hard time telling which episodes were cel and which were digital) Or, when rugrats and Hey Arnold went digital, no issues, everything was bright and colorful. Same thing with older Cartoon Network shows, when Dexter's Lab went digital in season 3, there were no issues, same thing with the later episodes of the PPG, Johnny Bravo, and Ed Edd and Eddy (Although E,E, and E didn't switch until 2005). I always wondered why this occurs.

I did notice recently that Season 2's animation wasn't that good a lot of the time. There were still some scenes with good animation, like Sweet Victory in Band Geeks and the insane part of Procrastination, but overall it wasn't the best.

Well, SpongeBob did just switch to digital ink and paint at the time, so of course the crew had to get used to it. Not to mention it improved as the season went on.

No, Season 2's coloring got worse as the season went on. Spongebob being green or pale wasn't a problem in episodes that were made before "Christmas Who", second of all, other shows didn't have this problem when they went digital. Did you read my OP

I thought you were mainly referring to the animation. But aside from coloring issues, season 2's animation was still good.

does it matter?
Eh, unlike some of his other topics, at least this one is interesting.

P.S. Supmandude, I see you are reading this. I am guessing you are going to post about how the animation is flawless perfection, though not as perfect as Season 6 or 10.

the coloring errors are mostly just issues with the current U.S. broadcast masters, not with the actual animation

Eh, I don't think it's much of a problem. The coloring may have been off, but season 2 was great in literally every other way, so this pales in comparison see what I did there
