When they first announced that Dynamite Entertainment was going to publish new Powerpuff Girls comics starting in July 2024, I was thrilled.
I waited a few more months, and today, my local comic book store has finally got the volume 1 of the new Powerpuff Girls comic book.

It's great that they're using the classic 1998 art style and setting as opposed to that dumpster fire that was the 2016 reboot.

My theory, is that this new comic book series is one of many ways of getting old and new Powerpuff Girl fans on board, since Craig McCracken has announced his intention to return to the Powerpuff Girls franchise which made him and his fellow animators and storyboard artists famous, by making new episodes for the cartoon (and bringing voice actresses Cathy Cavadini, Tara Strong and E.G. Daily back to voice the girls), according to a 2023 news article.

The first issue in comic book series involves the villain HIM, as he tries to take over Townsville with a few robotic henchmen, dubbed "Highly Intelligent Machines," while the girls try to pursue their destinies (Blossom wanted to be a detective, Bubbles wanted to be with the rabbits, and Buttercup wanted to be a wrestler. It was career day in Ms. Keane's class today!)...a great way to start the series off...with a BANG!

I’m glad we got this but I wish it was more like the og show. If you’re adapting someone else’s style it’s pretty disrespectful to change it. I don’t wanna see anime PPG, but idk if the inside looks like the cover the covers of comics are often stylized.
