I loved Windows 95 and 98 growing up. Maybe I’ll give a slight edge to Windows 98 SE. Those were so nice and so simple. Of course, I also loved Windows XP and 7. Windows Me and 2000 were awesome too. Heck, 2000 was probably peak Windows. 2000 and 7 are the only versions that have never or almost never crashed on me unless there was a really serious issue like a boot sector problem.
I did not like Windows 10. It had all sorts of unnecessary bells and whistles and advertising and just reeked of Microsoft’s desperation. Windows 11 was a little better for me, but that might just be because I ran it on better hardware.
I barely used Vista and 8, but I’m sure I would’ve loved Vista on the right hardware for most of the same reasons I love 7.
Windows 3.1 was one of the operating systems of all time.
Windows 11 looks like it’s going to get worse with the AI nonsense, especially if you’re buying one of those new “AI PCs” that automatically take screenshots of what you’re doing. Just do yourself a favor and jump ship to Linux (if you can) before it gets worse. I personally love Linux Mint.
