Is Plankton appearing in too many episodes?

I've noticed in more recent episodes, Plankton appears to be becoming much more of a main character in the series. From Seasons 1-3, he was a main character for usually just 3 episodes, but in post-movie episodes, he seems to be appearing in the series a lot more often. I'm not complaining about the post-movie episodes, this is just something that I've noticed.

For example, these are the episodes that he's a main character in for each season....

Season 1: Plankton, F.U.N., Walking Small

Season 2: Imitation Krabs, Welcome to The Chum Bucket, The Fry Cook Games

Season 3: The Algae is Always Greener, Plankton's Army

Season 4: Fear of a Krabby Patty, Krabs vs. Plankton, Dunces & Dragons, Enemy-In-Law, New Leaf, Best Frenemies

Season 5: Friend or Foe, Spy Buddies, Krabs la Mode, Bucket Sweet Bucket, Goo Goo Gas, Atlantis SquarePantis, Mermaidman vs. SpongeBob, Pest of the West, 20,000 Patties Under the Sea, Banned in Bikini Bottom

Season 6: Krabby Road, Spongicus, Plankton's Regular, Komputer Overload, Chum Bucket Supreme, Single Cell Anniversary, Truth or Square, Chum Caverns

Season 7: Someone's In The Kitchen With Sandy, The Inside Job, Greasy Buffoons, SpongeBob's Last Stand, One Coarse Meal, Gramma's Secret Recipe, The Great Patty Caper, Buried in Time, Shellback Shenanigans, Perfect Chemistry

See the difference? :P I like Plankton episodes, but maybe the character is being slightly over-used at the moment?

Yes, he is appearing a lot more. Personally, I think it's because they're running out of original story idea, (but that's just my opinion.) It doesn't really bother me that he's getting more story lines to himself, what bothers me is when they go out of there way to give him a line or two, in an episode he really doesn't belong in. I can't think of a specific example, but I know I've seen it.

To be honest, I don't mind if one certain character gets a lot of screentime. And besides, I LOVE Plankton!~ It's hilarious when his evil plans fail every time, lol. And I like the idea that Plankton is a tiny, evil (and cute at the same time), cartoon villian. He's another favorite of mine.

But I do agree that Sandy hasn't been getting enough screentime lately, I don't even know if she's still considered a main character. Main characters should appear in a lot of episodes.

I know, I thought Sandy was more main than Plankton.. But then again, it's called "Post Movie" Pre-Movie has the main episodes.

I would love to see equality in all characters. As well as more MINOR characters like Scooter or Fred or something.

If they are running out of original ideas, they should hire the old writers back :P

Sandy does seem to be appearing less, but even in pre-movie SpongeBob, there were times when she didn't appear much. In Season 3, the only episode where she was a main character was "I had an Accident", at least unless you also count "No Weenies Allowed" too.

i agree but i hope they make episodes where spongebob and patrick have fun but don't act dumb now adays they are all hahahahahah lalalallaalalal and they seem realy dumb i like the old episodes like chocolate with nuts where they try to accomplish something but don't look like they are completely stupid but sandy needs more plot episodes where at least shes more of a main character than plankton :spongebob:

Yes, Spongebob & Patrick are now just really annoying and really dumb. I guess I don't mind the Plankton episodes, because the story's are usually decent. I really don't like the Sandy episodes because they all have to do with her inventing something, and if I'm not mistaken, that was a post-movie idea. I don't remember when she became a scientific super genius, but I think Squidbob Tentaclepants was one of the first episodes. Sure, in "Spongebob, Sandy & The Worm" & "Squirrel Jokes" they talk about how she's the smartest creature in Bikini Bottom, but she was certainly no Jimmy Neutron.

I think it's great to have an episode evolve around a character other than SpongeBob for a change. It really helps to learn more about that character (like Plankton). I agree with the fact that Sandy hasn't been in many episodes recently though. It'd be sweet if the producers came up with more "personal" Sandy episodes, like where she finds an attractive guy or has some family issues...stuff like that besides all the scientific/karate episodes (we know enough about that).
