So recently, the latest SpongeBob games have been getting a bad rep, which is deserving, considering Robotic Revenge and HeroPants in my opinion, are below mediocre games. What if Nickelodeon gave back the spongebob game rights to THQ nordic to make another SpongeBob 3D platformer nstead of Activision? And if so, what would it be like?

Isn't Activision already lost their rights?

I feel like video games based on pre-existing franchises are pretty much dead. They’ve turned into another way to get money, which has just become easier if they produce a mobile app. I haven’t played many SpongeBob games, but if they make another platformer for consoles, I hope there’s effort placed into it.

Isn't it going to come to the Nintendo Switch Swiss Sponge? XD

First of all THQ Nordic /=/ THQ. They are just Nordic games rebranded. They bought the THQ name and have acquired some of the original properties THQ produced. They don't make licensed games. In all honesty it's more likely to go to some other company. Maybe Ubisoft? I mean nick is gonna make more console games in the future apparently

I just hope that Nick won't be pushing only Loud House on video-game consoles and PC.

Tbh the only studio I 100% trust to make a SpongeBob game would be Heavy Iron. Although at this point, I'd trust anyone besides Activision to make a new SpongeBob game.

While Battle for Biki Bottom and The Movie game decent games I think they're massively overrated. People act as if they're on par with Mario 64 or Mario Galaxy which is kinda laughable imo.

nah, what we really need are more of the AWE Games SpongeBob point and click games that shamelessly reuse assets and have awful 3D models and cutscenes

Wasn't Activision AND THQ just the publishers of SpongeBob games? I know other companies like Heavy Iron developed them.

My mistake. You're right, Activision just publishes the games. The recent SpongeBob games like HeroPants and Robotic Revenge were developed by a company Behaviour Interactive.

A bit of a nitpick but lights camera pants was actually developed by THQ. Besides that yeah it was other companies.
Oh yeah, I remember that. THQ Australia it was

Heavy Iron is a part of THQ. Or was actually, since they became independent since 2009.

While we may hope, it is kind of difficult to come up with a 3D platformer. While you may come up with great ideas for a 3D SpongeBob platformer you have to think: Will it server a nice long/average length of gameplay? Will there be enough goals to keep the player playing? So on... I know it sounds silly but I wouldn't want another SpongeBob 3D Platformer. I agree with what EmployeeAMillion said in that these types of games would just serve as a cash grab and it would not surprise me if add-ons for new levels were made. I don't think continuity would stay consistent enough for a good play through either.

I personally just bought truth or square for the wii and i think its good. they need at least one more spongebob game for ps4 and xbox 1.
currently waiting for the spongebob movie video game for ps2 to come in lol.

We’d be lucky to see it on the GameCube Virtual Console, and we’d be even luckier to get a GameCube Virtual Console at all!
Maybe it will be remade on 20th anniversary?
Think about it, this game is rather popular for a licensed game, it's somewhat acclaimed, and remade old game is somewhat easier than make a new one from the scratch.

But in any case it's just a wishful thinking and hope that 20th anniversary won't be as awful as 10th anniversary.
