Recently, on another spongebob forum, this character was mentioned, and it created a debate that i am now very curious about. I think he is a barracuda, which he resembles in this cartoon barracuda (the sharp teeth, blue color, similar fins) and another user said he looks like a shark, but in Spongeguard on duty, Mrs. Puff you're fired, and musclebob buffpants the sharks look completely different. Is there any evidence saying harolds species, or what do you think he is?

Hmm... Seems possible. When I was little, I always thought that Harold was some kind of shark because of his dorsal fin and sharp teeth. But, like you said, the sharks look completely different from the other fish in Bikini Bottom. I'm not sure, but I think Harold may be a barracuda, too, considering the comparison between him and an actual (or cartoon) barracuda.

Never thought of him as a shark, maybe a barracuda like you said or a blue piraña? Either way I love him tremendously.

I think he's a barracuda. He's the same size as the other fish, and the sharks are generally larger ..I think.

I'll go for baracuda, cause it makes the most sense.. But the fin is odd. Perhaps a hybrid?

Dat Wiki background... <3

A shark? LOL, I never thought of him to be one...I never thought about what type of fish Harold was. Hmm, I'd say barracuda as well.

I will go for... Shark. That fin seals it for me.
No, these are the sharks: :P
^ Now, those guys look a little more like what Joe Pavelski wears on his sweater.

(For the record, has he actually ever been CALLED Harold more than once or twice? I can't think of him being called that, or any name, on a regular basis... I can also remember the name Harold being used to refer to OTHER common fish in other episodes... really, unless I'm blanking here, I'm only remembering him being called that in "Gary in Love")
