Does Spongebob really say the F word in Sailor Mouth?

I wouldn't be surprised. I've heard rumors that the animators of the episode specifically animated the character's mouths to have them say profanities. I've never paid close enough attention to be able to tell though. If that's true, then that's hilarious. If it's not true, then... at least Sponge and Pat are still saying the EQUIVALENT of the F-word.

I think it was deliberately designed so that no single real swear word would work in all of the different contexts that SpongeBob and Patrick used it.

Animators do a lot of ::dolphin noise::ed up ::dolphin noise:: behind closed doors. Sometimes it's pretty ::dolphin noise::ing funny. Sometimes it's incredibly ::dolphin noise::ing scary as ::dolphin noise:: and should never be spoken about.

:O

You don't really know and it's really hard to read his lip movement. Therefore, you kinda have to guess and imagine yourself. It's part of what's fun about the episode.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that what they actually record made-up swearings. Not real, inappropriate swearing, but silly made-up swearings.

great idea dude

I always thought it was either a B word, F word, or the duplication of the F Bomb.

I don't know where, but in an interview someone (I think Tom Kenny) said that they were "swearing like sailors" while recording.
