Does anyone else love Spongebob and Patrick's relationship?

I love their relationship, I think the episode that shows their relationship at best is "Patrick SmartPants" because it shows how much they care for each other and how Patrick was willing to give up being smart to continue being best friends with SpongeBob. :)

Since when was this about a romantic relationship? I just like the way they are as friends. Spongebob doesn't care that Patrick is stupid; they just enjoy being together and that's enough. And they get along so well and are able to share the same interests, but they're not above the occasional fight. So yeah, I enjoy it.

They have a nice little friendship going. They do get along well, bond over the same interests, and aren't afraid to be goofy and silly together. Despite the "jerky Patrick" moments every talks about I do think he cares for his best friend in the end, and same for SB towards Pat.

I didn't mean romantically, I guess I wasn't clear about that so I apologize. I just meant their relationship as it's portrayed in the show, whether people see it as platonically or romantically.

I agree 100%. That episode really shows how important they are to each other. SpongeBob was so sad without Patrick. He cried for days and sadly looked at pictures of them. Even Patrick felt incomplete and alone with SpongeBob and, as you said, gave up actually being smart for his best friend. I love how much they care about each other.

At the end of the episode when they both happily go Jellyfishing really helps to show further how good friends they are, whenever I see that part it always warms my heart. :)

Fair point. I don't even know anyone who keeps their kindergarten friends after they move to grade school. The fact that they are able to stay so close for that long is a sign that they are important parts of each other's lives. Which makes sense- how many other people would tolerate their immaturity level for that long? No matter how mad they get at each other, they'll always care.

I've never been a big fan of making them a gay couple. Not saying that I have a problem with gay relationships, I just don't see this one as that.

They are super close friends; they're practically brothers in my eyes. I find their friendship fantastic.
