So I was looking at Spongebob Wiki and I saw that Patrick was born February 27, 1978, making him 31 in our years. Sandy was born February 18, 1984 making her 25 which seems ok.

Now Bob's license say he's 23 now, which seems about right but I wouldn't expect for Pat to be so much older. My question is, where could they have gotten this information? It is Wiki anyone can put up an age but I've never seen an ep or book they could've gotten that date from. There was a time when Stanly and Blackjack were listed as Sponge's reletives before those eps aired, which leads me to belive that members of the staff edited that. Still though, where do we get the birthdates of the characters who don't have printed licences?
 
They're ageless. They were, they always have been, and they always will be. The Spongebob wiki is unreliable.
 
Patrick couldn't be 31, that just wouldn't add up. =]
 
That's why I'm asking WHERE did that date come from and WHY would someone put that on SBWiki? Despute the age or not, those dates had to be printed somewhere, in a comic, a story book or a video game. So I'm asking if someone else can back this info up because I've never seen it before.
 
isn't there an episode where Patrick gets his license? Perhaps the info is from there.

I imagine that they'd all be static characters, meaning they wouldn't age but I'd say that Sandy and SpongeBob are probably 23 or so, Patrick is 25, Squidward is in his late 40's, Mr. Krabs in his late 60's and early 70's, Plankton in his 40's (which couldn't be true because he is Krabs' age, but this is just what I imagine) and Gary would be young for a pet.
 
There have been a few episodes where SpongeBob has had different birthdates in each one. Stephen Hillenburg said himself that the characters are supposed to be "ageless," so there isn't much of a point in trying to figure out the ages.
 
You people don't seem to get the question. WHERE do these dates come from? Sponge and Krabs drivers licenses where shown on TV with DOB written on them. No conflict there, but even when Pat got his license it does not show the DOB on it. And I have no idea where they got Sandy's DOB either, or Mrs. Puff's.

REGARDLESS of them being ageless, someone had to put these Dates up there because those dates had to be printed somewhere in the show. I'm asking if anyone can show where these dates come from, not if you agree with how old they say the characters are. Otherwise it's just wiki madness.
 
Those dates could be from anywhere: from episodes, interviews of the cast or crew, or they were made up. That's why, unless it has a source, Wiki isn't very reliable.
 
They were most likely made up, it's wiki, people edit stuff without naming a source, so I really doubt they got this dates from somewhere, just right out of their minds.
 
Yeah just want to see if that's the case. I mention in the 1st topic though that Wiki said Blackjack was Sponge's Cousin before the episode was even announced so it IS possible that staff members edit this page and these are the official dates (to a degree). Still think Pat is TOO old, but the notion is quite funny.
 
Well I'm one of the supervisors there. The age is always vandalized, SpongeBob is the only "valid" age, and possibly Mr. Krabs. According to Steve, they're ageless, even though that has been said. Patrick was once the same age as SpongeBob, then it got changed, and again. You can't trust a wiki without references.

Getting the information can be from comics books, books, television, etc. But it's most likely made up. But you shouldn't care about their age, nor care where the information is gotten unless there is a reference.
 
Here is what we know:
  • SpongeBob's birth date as seen on his license
  • Mr. Krabs's birth date as seen on his license
  • Patrick's birth date as seen on his license
  • Mr. Krabs and Plankton are the exact same age
  • Mr. Krabs is at least 51 years old. (The minimum age for crustiness is 51.)
  • Squidward is most likely older than both SpongeBob and Patrick.
  • SB and Pat can't be older than 20 because everyone considers them to be kids.
  • Sandy is likely around the same age or older than SpongeBob.
  • Mrs. Puff is older than SpongeBob.
