I am watching through all the SpongeBob episodes, here is top 10 for season 1. I think there might be some controversial choices in here.

10. Hooky

In this episode, I like how Mr. Krabs is portrayed as a father-figure to SpongeBob. One of my favorite parts in this episode is that Patrick says they are going to a 'carnival'. It's weird that Patrick just so happens to take SpongeBob to the hooks on the day when Mr. Krabs tells him not to go to the hooks. Overall, this was a decent episode and had some good jokes, but, the ending let's it down ever so slightly. Also, I think the 'Ridin' The Hook' song was based on this episode (correct me if I'm wrong).

9. Naughty Nautical Neighbors

This is a really funny episode, I like the parts when Squidward is intercepting SpongeBob and Patrick's messages to each other. It was (kind of) nice to see SpongeBob and Patrick get mad at each other. Another great part is when SpongeBob sings 'Squidward Is My Best Friend' on the cello. It was also nice to see SpongeBob and Patrick competing to be Squidward's best friend. Also, this was Aaron Springer's first episode! These days Aaron works on Mickey Mouse and has just made a pilot for Disney called 'Billy Dilley's Super Duper Subterranean Summer'. Overall, this was a fun, cute episode with plenty of jokes.
 
That's a great episode, but it's so underrated because they hardly play it.
 
8. Help Wanted

This is the episode that started it all! It also happens to be one of my favorite episodes. I hadn't seen this episode until a few months ago, I don't know why I hadn't seen it. I also really like the animation in this episode, it makes it feel like a 'classic' NickToon like Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life and Doug. I liked the part when they were being chased by the anchovies. I think I like it more now than when I first watched a few months ago. Overall, I think this is the perfect start to a perfect show.
 
7. Fools In April

This episode has loads of jokes, it's one of the funniest episodes this season. I like the part when Squidward is trying to say sorry to SpongeBob but he can't bring himself to do it. I watch (or at least try to) this episode every year on April Fools Day, it never fails to amuse me. I can probably see why some people wouldn't like it though. Overall, it's a decent episode with plenty of jokes.
