John Kricfalusi's opinions on Spongebob appear to be mixed. He said that the paintings are often sloppy, but he likes some of the drawings (Vincent Waller and Aaron Springer, specifically.) He calls the character designs "primitive," but says that Sherm Cohen's Spongebob drawing tutorials are useful for artists who want to learn principles like line of action.

And he clearly likes Spongebob enough to draw that Ren & Stimpy comic "Sponge out of Water" promo thing.

Is this a new one he did or still part of those he posted on kickstarter?
I don't know. I found it on what I believe is a John Kricfalusi fan page on Facebook.

Ok. Perhaps he had a change of thought. Otherwise he would have never done that Simpsons couch gag of the Miley Cyrus video.

Maybe he's actually a huge hypocrite. I don't know.

John K: The Simpsons is terrible and bland, and it represents everything wrong with modern animation!
Matt Groenig: Hey, wanna do a couch gag?
John K: $____$

Artists have to eat too though even if it means working on something that probably is out of the norm as to what they'd normally do. John also did lots of work he hated to do at Hanna barbera back in the 1980s to survive.

For a while though, I felt really mixed on the Miley Cyrus video and really thought for a while he had stopped cans without labels completely and then was proven wrong and even though John has been critical of certain stuff, it also never stopped him from making music videos for Weird Al, the Rolling Stones, and Bjork.

I still think he's softened up on certain things over the years. I mean I ardently thought uncle grandpa was garbage the first time I saw it but then much later on I gave it another chance and completely had a change of thought. Even big name animators can change their opinions over time.

True. John K said some fairly nasty stuff about Spongebob on Reddit a while ago (specifically, accusing the background painters of being a sloppy version of his show,) but apparently he's warmed up to the little guy enough to draw a comic about him and his new movie.

In a way I kind of feel like John K and Stephen Hillenburg are total opposites. John K is loudly critical of a lot of things, seems to have a fairly pessimistic attitude about modern animation, and thinks extremely highly of himself. Stephen Hillenburg almost entirely stays out of the public eye to work on personal projects, is extremely shy, and rarely gives interviews. Both are wonderful artists who have, in a way, made modern cartoons into what they are today.

Ren and Stimpy are taking a bath with Sven Hoek in the tub too. Stimpy's using SpongeBob to clean Ren basically.
I'm not even sure Spongebob's alive. Stimpy might just be holding a Spongebob toy/sponge. I mean, Stimpy's apparently a Spongebob fan.

If that actually was Spongebob in that drawing, I'm guessing that he'd either be ecstatic or incredibly squicked-out.
