the intro on SpongeBob was updated with entirely new animation? It would be exactly the same as it was before in terms of the theme song and stuff but it would be sort of like what shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons have done with their intros in the past few years, "updating" them to reflect the current look of the show.

To be honest, I'd prefer it stay the same. It would feel odd to change suddenly after 15 years; this animation is what defines the theme song IMHO.

I think I'd prefer it as it is but having it change to a new style would also be great. Something new and fresh.

I chose "sad", but I've had varying opinions about this over the years.

I used to wish they'd update it with new animation at least. Back when "Truth or Square" premiered I was disappointed that the CeeLo stop-motion theme wasn't the permanent new theme song because I thought it was great. Nowadays, although I still think the title sequence looks very dated, I'm glad they left it alone. If they used new animation it would create a more obvious divide between new episodes and old ones. Some people might not think that's a bad thing, but personally I like that the show is still anchored to its early days. The opening is one of the few things that has stayed consistent.

If this was back in S3 and they wanted to change the theme to look more current, I think people would still have some problems with it. The thing is, not everyone likes the current S9 animation and this would cause another reason for people to dislike the newer episodes.

That's not a bad idea, the current opening looks rather dated. Sure, people would opposes it, but as time goes on people would accepts the new opening and everyone are happy again.

I guess that's true, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I think with the current theme song, I would be ecstatic if it got changed.

If it were the original theme (as seen below) then I would not like the change because it's too awesome. I think the less lyrics a theme song has, the better it is. Although, there are very few theme songs with a lot of words that actually do it perfectly, but the current theme is not one of them. Even with the original theme being updated with new animation and better color, it could work.

What I would really like to see, even if it is copying, is a SpongeBob theme with something different every time, like the Simpsons. At least it would glue more people to the set to see what the difference is in each one.

It'd feel weird to me. Even though it already is weird to me seeing the original animation in the theme followed by the updated animations in the newer episodes.

I have mixed opinions. Currently, the intro has 2 bars at the side of it since the show changed to widescreen ratio

But also, it's something that's remained the same for so long, I think a change like that wouldn't go well with a lot of people. There's no real point in it changing something that doesn't need to change

I have wanted to see a new intro for sometime, where it shows all the main characters (SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, Plankton and Gary). It's not something I care about too much though.

Instead of re-animating the intro, the should just remaster it. Just increase the resolution and clean up the intro, but don't change the animation.

I don't know if I explain my idea correctly, but it's something along that line.

I think its fine when they changed it for the Christmas specials, Whatever Happened to SpongeBob and Truth or Square so if they change it in a future episode for something like those, it would be fine. Otherwise, no, I do not want a permanent change in the theme song.

i would really like if they "updated it" and the family guy theme is a perfect example. dont fully change but just re-do it to make it more HD or just better. i love the spongebob theme and I think it would be a good idea
