I just don't get how one season could just have five different art styles? And the thing is I look at the credits, and they have about the same storyboard and animation directors. The main example is in season 2, witch has the most art styles

Evolution, experimentation and natural changes in character designs, etc and a process where it was a lot easier to tell who drew what by the way they drew the characters. You should watch a late 30s Looney Tunes short and something from the late 40s and late 50s and they all look dramatically different because of all the experimentation and progress that the animators and artists made over the years depending on who directed and animated on each short.

I really think in the earliest SpongeBob seasons, this kept the animation looking really interesting and I don't understand how this is an issue here.

So you'll ask questions.

Be glad you can at least recognize them unlike those SB popsicles.
You can't just judge them like that! Give them some slack!

I'm... just not seeing the difference, really. o.O

But, seasons will have different artists writing episodes. What one Needs to remember, is that not every single animator works on every single Episode, due to time constraints. They will try to make more episodes at one time, and many Animators don't work only on a single Show, but on others as well. So, it could very well be that These Little changes are due to practical scheduling constraints.

If you watch 2d movies, you'll notice style changes between Scenes, because different Animators have different styles and do their best to Keep the characters as on-model as possible, but cannot make it perfect. This includes digital 2d.

So, per your observations about it being 5 styles per season, then I'd have to assume they have five Groups of Animators.
